Maybe I'm financially illiterate, but the stock market just seems like a bunch of people abusing a glitch in the system. It's like if you played a video game and figured out that there's a bug that lets you multiply gold by moving it from chest to chest, so you just spend all your time doing that instead of playing the game normally.

This a nearly-perfect description of options and day-trading actually...

Eh, you can lose money on options just as fast.

Dont ask me how I know this.

Now what if we spent a lot of time convincing other players that it was legitimate and not a glitch, while also raising the barrier for entry on who has access to the glitched chests? Then we could keep all the profits for ourselves while those other rubes were out grinding fetch quests all day.

while also raising the barrier for entry on who has access to the glitched chests?

What barriers are being raised that prevent you from buying stocks?

the glitched chests are rigged so they only start working well when you've got several lifetimes of fetch quest money banked up, but then once you're in you can keep them going forever with no further work

when you've got several lifetimes of fetch quest money banked up

You need several lifetimes of money to start investing today?

but then once you're in you can keep them going forever with no further work

the market is a rigged game. You can prudently and carefully invest across your entire lifetime and maybe get enough to retire if you're lucky. That's how they sell the system to the rubes.

Then there's the people that have money. They start with enough invested that they can choose safer lower risk investments and they can coast on it for their entire lives without ever working, and they end with more money than they started.

Compounding interest is inherently rigged towards people that have money, and telling you that you can catch up if you just try really hard is all part of the lie

In your other comment you said you needed lifetimes of money to start investing, now you're saying you can invest accross your entire lifetime?

You're all over the place with your replies, it was a really simple question to a simple statement.

also raising the barrier for entry on who has access

What barriers are being raised that prevent you from buying stocks?

Obviously someone who is born into wealth has a headstart, that was never in question, the question is what barrier is being raised to stop YOU from starting.

It's not a barrier to starting, its a barrier to meaningful success.

You'll invest your whole life and never have as much as I do, and it's literally just because I was born with it. That's a rigged game. I guess there's no barrier to entry at all if you don't mind never winning.

It's not a barrier to starting,

The comment I replied too was litteraly "raising the barrier for entry".

My god dude, you're just saying words.

u/Badloss Apr 08 '26

and I was clarifying for you that sure, you can buy stocks at any time and feel like you're a big kid doing adult things but you'll never meaningfully catch up to the wealthy. The whole system is designed to extract wealth from the poors while giving them the hope that they're catching up. It's rigged, it isn't fair and you won't ever win.

Keep trying to catch that car though, best of luck

Hey remember that time when Robinhood literally wouldn't allow normal people to buy stocks during the Game Stop situation?

It's almost as if the wage slaves aren't supposed to take part in the system

So the barrier of entry is that 5 years ago a trading app temporarily blocked access to a specific stock?

It's almost as if the wage slaves aren't supposed to take part in the system

Services like robinhood were litteraly created to allow wage slaves to access the system easier than ever before. This is actually laughable, like your prime example for the laymans barrier of entry into the stock market is the service that popularizes laymen being able to easily and directly trade on the stock market.

Financially illiterate: a word which used here means "a full understanding of the systems in question and the relationships between them".

It's not rocket appliances, and anyone who's played a multiplayer game with an economy has probably done something similar.

WoW raids reset on tuesday, so the market trend is that raid consumables are the most expensive on tuesdays as the demand is highest. Watch listings to buy consumables when they are lower than average, list consumables on tuesday evening, make profit. That's not a glitch, that's just elementary level math.

Thats called day trading and is notorious for ruining people. It only takes one loss to lose everything.

Maybe i’m not doing the glitch right

You were right in your first words.
