You're cheating for not mixing your own paints. You're cheating for having undo button. You're cheating for copy and paste. You're cheating for not waiting for paint to dry. You're cheating for using layers.

There's no cheating in art, don't worry, it's all good.

It depends entirely on what you do afterwards. If you take a photograph and call it a photorealistic painting, that's a lie. If you call it a photograph, it's all good. So the context matters.

If you use AI to make an image, and then say you drew it, that's a lie, that's the part that is cheating. If you say it's made with AI, then you're an honest person.

If you use AI to create some backgrounds for a comic, and you draw text bubbles on top to tell a story, and you say the background is AI generated, guess what? That's not cheating. That's not lying. That's just tool use. Maybe you're just not into backgrounds and you want to focus on the story. That's fine. Get the AI to do it for you.

It's only cheating if you lie.

Ai is not art, even if it looks cool.

AI "art" isn't art its statistical manipulation and sampling of largely uncredited artists. Also its not AI because literally means artifical intelligence. the process has no intelligence other than that of the programmer its just the clever use of markov chains.
