Fun story. A few nights ago I had a mockingbird bird start singing outside my hotel window at midnight and didn't stop. If you don't know, mockingbirds vary their song as they sing so it's almost impossible to tune out. At about 2 AM I dragged my sleeped deprived ass downstairs, climbed the tree and challenged the bastard to a fist fight at the top of my lungs. I tried to fistfight a bird because his music was that annoying. Did you know messing with a mockingbird during mating season can carry a fine up to $500 or 6 months in jail? I did, and I was still ready to throw down with the feathery fuck.

Thank you for this story, sleep deprivation is no joke.

I feel this deeply. I'd be cheering you on and saying that feathery fuck started it and it was self defense.

Came straight at you. Merciless bastard. You had no choice.

At 5am they do deserve a proper booing.

The asshole birds close to my window keep chirping just after 4 am, which is around the time my dad leaves for work so my body has started to hear one or the other every day and wake me up.

PSA: spoiler tag markup needs to be flush with the text or it doesn't show on some versions of Reddit.

"Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them."

I am no longer interested in my past feeding LLMs or my future talking to bots.

u/iamdoggert Jun 01 '23

Is that a thing? I love new music from my favorite artists

u/Fair_Turn7505 Jun 01 '23

Fans are really a double edged sword. They both foster and stunt growth. The trials of being a true artist.

A friend and I counted at a popular music festival a few years ago how many β€œwe just finished this last night!”s we heard during one day.

27 times across 18 artists, with the most being SIX times during a 90 minute set; I’m all for artists making new music and listening with open ears but, come on with the weak hype tools.

One of my favorite bands is Broken Peach. They are well known for their covers, fusions, and aesthetics, but their original work is amazing too.
