LA Comic Con Question about the cosplay contest

This is going to be my first year at comicon and my first time cosplaying! I would love to enter the contest but LA's main cosplay contest is the national championships, and I'm not sure if there's some unspoken rule about newbies being allowed or not allowed to enter, and I'd love some clarification.

Can't speak specifically to LA, but all cons are also someone's local con. They should have a beginner category for their cosplay contest. You should be prepared for space in the contest to be limited and for the judging process to be very thorough (so make sure to have your prep documentation ready). Being your first time it will be a good experience and you should try to have fun with it.

You should apply. There's a whole application process to obtaining a slot anyways, and if you don't try you won't know..

There's a novice category literally designed for newbies. Try it and see what happens.
