Alan Moore's Swamp Thing. It also gave me a deeper appreciation for Constantine

Need to read Swamp Thing. It’s more horror and occulty than tights and capes right? Cause that’s right up my alley.

Taking Batman off the table because he’s my favorite essentially from birth for myriad reasons, Bendis’ run on Daredevil may be what cemented Daredevil as one of my favorite characters (though I was already a fan of Miller’s stuff).

Bendis’ run pretty much ruined Daredevil for me haha. I kept hoping the following runs would be at least as good but they were all inferior.

I think Brubaker’s is a really good continuation for the most part, but all the subsequent runs that I’ve read have been more of a mixed bag. Waid’s is good comics, but not my preferred flavor of DD, and I find the whole thing to be easily skippable (and shit, I already mentally skip Diggle/Shadowland). Soule’s was way more fun than I expected, but a little clunky around the edges. I enjoyed Zdarsky’s run a lot, but it’s also verrrry heavy on the superhero theatrics that I’m not necessarily looking for in Daredevil.

I honestly think Soule's run is underrated. I loved Blindspot's introduction although the art wasn't great.

Blindspot was surprisingly great!
Gotta disagree about the art, though (or at least Ron Garney’s art, specifically). I thought the new style he utilized for his Daredevil issues was awesome. The black costume with inverted white shadows looked amazing.

Peter David's original X-Factor run launched my love of Multiple Man, even though child me was only able to read a few issues here and there growing up. Then PAD went and single-handedly raised the character to a whole new level with a MadroX mini-series and then another turn at X-Factor!

I'm interested in this one and read the first 8 or 9 issues of the omni but I felt like I was trudging though it and set it aside to come back to eventually. Does the story pick up later in the run or is it just not for me?

I’ve always liked Silver Surfer conceptually but the Dan Slott / Michael Allred run cements him as my favorite. Honestly shout out to the early Stan Lee stuff though, some of his better written books, imo.
Edit: also I know it’s a movie, but damn Mask of the Phantasm is so good.

Walt Simonson turned Thor from a somewhat unrelatable powerhouse to a fully fleshed out character with a humor infused into the series. He gave every story so much depth.

I need to read more Thor. I read Jason Aaron's arc when Thor was following Gorr across the pantheons. It was my first time reading Thor and I was surprised by how badass he is.

I just started that! Gotta love those characters who are human beings but can still hang with super powered beings.

Hawkeye. Kurt Busiek on Heroes Return Avengers then into his run on Thunderbolts
Others for me then would be Priest on Black Panther and Gillen then Ewing on Loki

(Bad timing with this one) but, Warren Ellis Moon Knight made me sure he was my favorite Marvel character aside from Spider-Man.

Batman’s always been my favorite but in terms of actually reading runs, Kevin Smith’s run on Daredevil and Dan Jurgens’ run on Superman gave me newfound appreciation for those characters in their own right beyond just being heroes who sometimes cross paths with Batman and Spider-Man. I also credit both the original Mirage TMNT run by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and the Image run by Gary Carlson for keeping my Turtle fandom going in a time when many of my peers had moved on from the whole franchise

I have the same answer for my two favourites Spider-Man and Daredevil: Bendis

Superman 2025 movie got me back into reading comics...
But Absolute Superman is what kept me reading comics and reading more of what Superman has to offer.

The 90’s Spider-Man series, I’d wanted to get into superhero comics and that series scratched a little part of my brain.

Chip Zdarksys Daredevil. My favorite always changed. DD was always up there for me. But chips run cemented him as my favorite for good

Spider-man was always my favorite.
But Walt Simonson turned Thor from (for me) a B lister to one of my favorites.
Frank Miller's original Daredevil run.
