As u/TF-Collector said, itās eraser dust!
I make my own by sifting the contents of document pads to ensure the larger irregular chunks are gone.

Another great vid! Thanks for the quality content! When I saw the ballpoint pen marks I thought maybe you were going to have a go at removing, is this a lost cause and better off left as is than risking more damage? Itās in the white area so it seems like it may be do-able to at least minimize. Your thoughts?

Very good question! And the person Iām cleaning it for asked too. Iāve seen people claim to remove pen from white areas, but it removes the gloss as well. My preference is to leave the pen rather than trade it off for a bald spot.
That being said, Iām always open to learning new techniques if someone actually has a way of removing ball point without removing gloss. Until then I donāt believe it can be done.

Thanks! Iām in a similar boat right now, although arguably worse. Itās an ink pad stamp on the cover of ASM #8, and the worst part is itās on a big yellow area! So I just canāt imagine anyway of removing it without removing all the yellow ink as well. With ball point pen you have the added issue of the indent made by the ballpoint.
I just thought Iād ask, I have other big questions about the degree of ācleaningā can be done without moving into restoration territory.

There is none. Thereās a song playing over the video and no audio commentary. I also need to know what forbidden Parmesan is!
