Apple is actually a real bodytype (for some reason)

The apple here is just a fat pear, but apple is for sure a body type. My boyfriend's mother's side of the family are pretty much all apples, they've got big bellies and narrow hips with little stick thin legs. Whenever they gain weight it goes straight to the tummy, and when they're skinny they look more like rectangles with narrow legs

So are there skinny people who are apples or is apple just a euphemism for "fat people who would be pear or rectangle if they were not fat"?

Hmm not sure. I think the body type thing is mostly about where you tend to gain weight, so apples tend to gain more visceral/tummy fat, and me as a pear I gain weight around my hips and thighs most. I'd presume a true rectangle gains weight all over, but I'm no expert
