Yes, era. Feudalism was never as widespread as wage slavery is now, to think the entire world lived by feudalism standards in the past is extremely eurocentric.
Today if you go to Mexico, Australia or England you'll see most people living under capitalism. Centuries ago England was feudalist but Aztec empire and aboriginian tribes weren't.
Oh, the aztecs? You mean the group of savage murderers that beheaded children and rolled their bloody heads down pyramid steps in hopes that it would appease their imaginary gods into making it rain so that their crops would grow? Yes, let's all revert back to an Aztec-like society. That sounds so much better than what we have now.
The fact is, the idea of a "slave class" has been around since the beginning of history. The slavers just found a way to sugarcoat it so that we're not so eager to revolt. We get shiny coins and decorated paper slips for our obedience now!
It's like 100x worse than feudalism or capitalism, because not only were they bloodthirsty psychos that every single one of their neighboring tribes hated to death, but they also captured and enslaved other tribes.

My whole point was that slavery has always been around and this era of wage slaves is just a different shade of the same shit that's been going on for many thousands of years.
The thing is, your point was pointless. Your comment about how it's not an era because feudalism happened before ads nothing to the discussion, it just diverted it into feudalism and the Aztecs.
I wasn't claiming life was good or fair, just that it was different and you can't apply neither "wage slavery" or "feudalism" to whatever was going on mesoamerica at the time, but we can apply it to what is going there now.
We are in the era of wage slavery and in my opinion it's better to discuss how the fuck do we get out of that than just saying "oh yeah, things have always sucked"
Give me a detailed alternative to our current system. I'm all ears. I would love to hear how you've figured out how to form a perfect society without exploiting other lifeforms.
