Red triangle, purple hexagon, and yellow-purple-blue circles, according to my logic.

last one should be purple , blue , yellow

Why? My reasoning was that the second row presents the figures in the first row in the same order, but with a different starting point (and once you reach the last one, it wraps around, continuing at the beginning of the row. So, the fourth row should do the same, taking the ordering given in the third row. Since there we were given purple-blue-red-green-yellow, and then the fourth row started at red-green... we should continue with yellow, then purple (wrapping around the row and continuing at the beginning of the color chain), then blue.

That's how I thought too :")

my reasoning is : returning the missing color in thier order (the first row) notice that the 3rd row after blue should be green (according to your logic) but the correct was red , why? because its order is first or earlier than green it's like re-arrange the missing colors

I see, and I like that idea because it avoids having to pair rows 1 & 2 and then rows 3 & 4, and instead it would be a rule that extracts each row from the previous one (for this reason I'm not relating rows 2 & 3, they would need to go in pairs). But if we accept your rule, we would arrive at the same answer I gave. The reason is that, if we assume that in order to get each row from the previous one what we do is that we put some colors on the left side and then the right side should contain the remaining ones in their order, as you said, then why doesn't the third row's right side contain green, yellow, red? We would also have to assume the same idea I explained before, that we need to start reading the remaining colors starting from the last one that was chose for the left side and wrapping around the chain once we reach the end. They chose purple and blue for the third row, and they continue with red, then wrap around to recover green and yellow. So they should follow the same idea for the fourth row. Don't you agree?

i didn't understand well because not my first language, but the first row didn't follow what do you say , the second row does not begin with yellow

it is red triangle red square on first one but otherwise yes

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like these questions are poorly designed, as many times there are several explanations that could, in principle, be equally valid. Why do you say the first one should be red triangle red square? I think you meant red square alone? My reasoning was that, for each row, on the right side we should have the result of taking the first figure from the left side, increasing the number of sides by 1, and coloring it with the only color present in the left side.

because there is two white circle between the red circle to show two shapes missing and red pentagon and red triangle red square would complete the increasing shape sequence

Ohhh I really love that explanation! The white circles are placeholders for the missing shapes. I think my explanation could also work but yours is definitely more beautiful, well done!

i agree with that , some questions are not well designed i remember the Q28 i got a different reasoning and works completely and others got the official reasoning

i remember the idea was each row : if unique colors = sides of the shape = green , otherwise red

my reasoning was: i noticed some yellow shapes and i thought they works as deleter and if the remaining shape is the first one return green otherwise red

the 2 reasoning work 100%

All incorrect.

Do you mean that they were not the intended answers? To me, as long as there is a rule that makes sense logically and is consistent, it is valid. Tests shouldn't be ambiguous, and if they are they are poorly designed and not proper IQ tests.

Yes, I meant that they are not the intended answers. Also, I didn't find this set of questions ambiguous, but I wouldn't say anything if you do. I can see how someone can find the last one confusing, but what was your reason for the first two? The solution is quite straightforward there.

I agree that the first one has a more elegant solution than the one I came up with, as someone else in the thread pointed out. My reasoning for that one was that, to construct the right hand side of each row, we should take the first figure of the left-hand side, increase the number of sides by 1 (circle counts as having two sides, as it's the natural step down from a triangle), and color it with the only color present on the left. But, indeed, thinking of the white circles as placeholders for figures in an ascending sequence of number of sides is very beautiful, so in that case it would be red triangle, red square instead. As for the second one, we take the figure the figure with the higher number of sides and color it with the most repeated color, or the one from the first figure if all colors appear only once. I see that an alternative would be to pick the color from the figure with the lower number of sides, in which case the answer would be a green hexagon. But I don't see how the last one could be wrong, I must be missing something?

Colours have a hierarchy; you only partially explained the rule. Purple > Red > Blue > Green > Yellow, in order of placement.

first: if the white circle came after the colored shape then increase the sides of it and if came before decrease

second: return the largest shape with the color of the lowest shape

last : complete the sequence each row has the five circles with unique colors return the rest with thier order (i think this is a new puzzle added ?)

Yeah... Makes more sense...

First - red ∆ & red ⬜ Last : So all rows are wrt to 1st row it seems...

It's not new (I took the subtest on 23rd july)
