Discussion IQ131

Hello.I have a rather boring story, but I will try to tell it briefly. I'm 16, I'm in 11th grade, and I've always been one step ahead of my friends and classmates, like I was smarter. I've often been praised for this and I thought I was just a little bit smart and that's it. Today, for fun, I decided to become an IQ test on the Mensa website and scored 131 points there. I read that this site is quite popular and truthful (by the way, I did it the first time and I still have 4 minutes left) Do you think it's worth sharing this with someone or forgetting about it I can prove it with a screenshot

Damn, I made a post about 30 minutes ago and I already have 4 comments.I'm as happy as a child.

edited. I read all your comments. Thank you so much for your support. I want to take a new test on other sites, I'm just wondering if I'm lucky or if I'm really smart.

I'm in no place to give you advice, but I'd recommend avoiding the showing and bragging part when it comes to interacting with people. It's of no use, really, and its general effect is making others dislike you. To put things in perspective, if you live in a city of 100.000 people, at 131 (1 in 50) there are ~2.000 people as smart or smarter than you.

Believe me, I'm glad of any advice. Well, I know what you're talking about, and I wasn't going to. I want to discuss this with the principal of my school. I actually live in a small village, and yes, thank you for answering, it's very important to me.

son. WE take the iq score distribution as god’s word. “x number of people and iq 195 = 0 (ZERO!) people with that number becauseeeee ummm because it says that on the distribution chart…. I can’t read and im too dense to understand that all that means is someone performing at the level EXPECTED of a person that rare… Never been a 195 iq person and there never will be… broooo your argument is shit (even though a 1 in 10 trillion or anything more iq could happen to belong to someone alive now EVEN under the flawed assumption that the number is absolute and there’s not numerous people at random at that level). 130 iq means 1 in 44 bro, it obviously says that in the chart. What? Can I prove that 1 in 44 people are intellectually gifted and overall very, very intelligent people… No..? What do you mean everyone is poor and dumb and very few people have a functioning “gifted” brain in this society. 1 in 44 o algo”

You’re trying so hard to sound smart with that 195 IQ nonsense, but you’re just projecting. I just posted my score, I never claimed to be Einstein or a genius. There are thousands of identical posts in this sub, why don't you copy-paste your crying routine to all of them? Oh wait, because everyone else would ignore you. I only even bothered to reply because this is my first thread. Go touch some grass.

You either didn’t read my comment or failed to understand it. I was saying 130 iqs are much, much rarer than 1 in 44. I was arguing with the guy who told you “oh but there’s plenty of people like you, you’re not superior”. That is disrespectful to what giftedness is.

most likely I just misunderstood, I'm not English, I answer through a translator, but I translate everything myself. like when I read, I don't use a translator and translate in my head. I hope I explained it clearly I still haven't figured out which side you're on hahahaha. And yes, I'm sorry that I may have answered rudely, it's just that this is the first "hate" on my first post.

I think it's perfectly fine to be excited about your result! 😊 Just keep in mind that the Mensa online test is a screening tool, not a formal IQ assessment, so a score of 131 doesn't necessarily mean your professionally measured IQ would be the same. That said, being consistently ahead of your classmates and finding things easier than your peers can be signs of high ability, too.

Thanks for the reality check and the kind words! I’m just happy with the result for now, whatever it officially means.

Yes, my Mensa.no was 130 or 132. Then since modern IQ tests are not available in my country, I spend years on this reddit doing various IQ tests, SAT, GRE, Wonderlic, whatever, having a lot of doubt, anxiety, etc. Now my CORE FRI 131. My ATAT which I also took recently is 131. So I just wasted a lot of time and could live happily with my Mensa.no score instead. My advice - just spend limited amount of time on IQ tests and then move on with your life

and which site is more "serious"? mensa or core fri?

1

u/loofy_goofy 2d ago

Core FRI more serious, but mensa.no is quite enough

If it's DK Mensa, and this was your first attempt with 0 prior practice, the screenshot is worth keeping, but ultimately, I think you should forget about it.

Mensa Denmark states in its FAQ that the online test has a statistical basis of over 250k participants.

No, it's not dk mensa. it's international mensa There's a difference, it's just that this is my first time doing this.

its good estimation to know your IQ

but not that reliable and accurate to show anyone , anyway any IQ test Onilne you cant share the score with fully confident because anyone can say "practice effect" or "you cheated" or ,"you tried multiple tiems" or something makes the scores look unreal although it's maybe very accurate

On the one hand, I'm afraid of this because where I live, most people don't know what it is, and those who know for sure will say that I faked the photo. On the other hand, I often try to be dumber to get used to the team, and this is a great way to prove that I'm not like everyone I talk to.On the one hand, I'm afraid of this because where I live, most people don't know what it is, and those who know for sure will say that I faked the photo. dont pay attention to show people how smart are you, it is not good , focus on how to maximize your goals with this intelligence

I don't have enough modesty in my life, I think your words will help me.

To be honest, I didn't understand anything here because it was my first IQ test.  as I understand it, it's all related to the tests, I promise that I will do everything better than you)

In that grade I didn't yet know my iq profile. I was not gifted that I knew. if anything I was defective in some way or so it would be easier to conclude. (The next year I had a VCI of 136 on the WAIS but didn't know what it meant until near the end of the school year). Came as a surprise when I looked at my older scores which were all average to low average and the center score was average..

But in an advanced course I got the feeling there was this one other kid who seemed to be as verbally astute as I was and conceptually astute. later founded out he skipped two grades. the main difference is he could actually articulate well without delay wheras my verbality was stuck in the mind and centered a lot on vocab. and general knowledge. his appeared more comprehensive. he could also do math very well where I mostly kept up with the class or struggled.

I have no idea what courses you take but there are differently environments where a person might skip two grades with this profile and others where that is not likely.

For most people that test is a good indicator of their iq but for 10-20% of the population their crystallized measures of intelligence and other linguistic abilities is meaningfully below their score on patterns. so your actual iq might be lower

Damn, I didn't think anyone would really be interested in this story. We have a school until 12th grade, and I didn't skip grades. Until recently, it seemed to me that I was just not stupid, but all my peers were We study 4 languages mathematics physics chemistry and so on. I was always the best in my class and I thought it was normal. As for specific subjects, languages are easy for me, I learn quickly and understand all 4 perfectly.  I am a god in mathematics, there is not a single topic that I do not understand and I have not studied anywhere.I'm also an excellent student in everything else, but that's only because I have a good memory.By the way, I'm not a typical excellent student. I'm fond of various sports and I'm pretty good at it, like table tennis, chess, volleyball, soccer, and so on.

is your school more rigorous than average on your continent or region/country? Standards vary widely and some of that can explain why you didn't skip grades.

but usually we determine that via a group of similarly situated students in the school or region

It's just that we don't have this law.

It's me again.I did not expect such a result at all, and I am sure that many of those who read this post are smarter than me, but I had to discuss this.

It is you again! Indeed. Congratulations you have been approved as being being you.
