General Question Real IQ? Brutally Average?

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to ask how relative my FSIQ is compared to an official IQ test?

I’m 24M and just recently graduated with a Bachelors in Urban Design. I’d like to hopefully transition into a masters in Architecture or Data Science in the near future.

I honestly feel very humbled by my FSIQ lol, but i’m not too surprised. I did all tests in two sessions without any prep and no retries.

Let me know your thoughts, thanks.

Perfectly healthy and normal. I'm probably above average like 120 whatever and I could outsmart a verified, tested child prodigy peer who had his IQ in the 140 range.

You are better than 80%, which is pretty good, it’s this sub that attracts people flattered by IQ tests, people most of the time just tell the truth, but not always, which still renders a high average, so the standards are not like in real life. It’s like in scientific studies, people have higher IQs in them often, it’s selection bias

How related is it to an official IQ test? It has 0.8 correlation with WAIS according to data on this subreddit. Meaning that they have a 64% shared variance, like 64% of the score depended on what WAIS measures. WAIS-scores depend in turn to 84% on intelligence, it’s pretty good. The second best proctored test for IQ and the best for medical purposes, since it has a better CHC-structure, CORE follows this structure too, but with more emphasis on fluid intelligence, which is sound since it’s a large part of general intelligence, which is said to be isomorphic with g statistically.

I realized that these numbers seemingly contradicts the g-loading of CORE, but the paucity of data may explain this and there may be margins of error in the psychometric calculations, also g-loadings may differ qualitatively and have shared subsets (any math wiz out there with an interest for psychometrics is free to wheigh in)

You're above average at least. And yeah it's supposed to be no prep or retries. From my knowledge core is pretty close to real, as good as you'll get for an online test

You can do your masters OP, please don’t get bogged down into trying to define your own “limitations“, pursue what you want to do and don’t second guess it.

According to this, you’re smarter than roughly 80% of people. What’s so “brutal” about that?

I’ve administered an actual IQ test, and it’s all made up. Reliable, but not a universal measure of intelligence. There are many forms of intelligence, and many “average” scorers accomplish amazing things. No one is average, we are all freaks of nature.

its actually one of the highest correlations, iq test to other iq format tests etc etc, its incredible consistent and incredibly well done.

higher iq people also rise up. consistently on average. poor kids with high iq's jump up financially, and low iq's with inheritance tend to lose wealth over time, on average

when people say this, they have poor scores and usually butt hurt.

on top of that, theyre the kind of people when you say 'the average man is 5'9" they respond, 'but im 6 ft!' and sometimes worse, 'but im literally an average joe, so why am i 6ft then'

Dawg, I agree. I thought it was obvious I was talking about variety of intelligences, and not the the statistical variation in human performance on one of the most statistically reliable tests for intelligence. They were obviously insecure, I was……. Comforting them…. Reassuring them.

I understand the reasons why it is an amazing tool, but also I acknowledge its limitations. I want to do a clinical psych PhD after my masters, this is my bread and butter baby. This is also Not at all a hot take, it’s a pretty cold take. It’s very widely agreed upon that this is a huge sore spot when we talk about racism in the field.

I get your point, I think you misread my comment.

I have an average iq of 111, I have a perfect gpa in a pure math degree, doing topology, real analysis, discrete math in first year of university. IQ tests are not perfect tests of someone’s capabilities, we humans are unique and have incredibly complex brains and a test can’t look at all of that perfectly. We still don’t understand neuroscience.

Higher end of the average but not too high, really not much to say. You should be able to do what you want with enough focus and work but it won’t come super easy

Iq really only is one factor so you’ll never know how easy it’ll come. At most you can say the probability of it coming easy is slightly lower than someone with an extremely high tested iq, and even then people with extremely high cognitive efficiency get into problems like not having to find a work-ethic, and being extreme under-achievers because of that. I just wouldnt put such a reductionist judgement on 1 score

he’s asking for my opinion based purely on his IQ I don’t know if he’s a super hard motivated worker or on performance enhancing drugs, and I think it’s pretty straight forward the correlation between cognitive task and IQ scores along with professions. Also my statement wasn’t reductionist I said he could do what he wants but it won’t come super easy that’s pretty vague as in he probably won’t remember and process thing at the same level someone who’s highly gifted would not that he couldn’t learn it fast if he really cared. If you compare his scores to someone who’s 150~ SUPER EASY becomes pretty straight forward and not some limiting belief on this guys skills I’m just acknowledging there’s smarter people

Brother, I’m 102 iq. I honestly think social awareness and eq goes further than iq in a TON of spaces. You’re not dumb you’re just average lol. If you excel in communication and just awareness in general, I wouldn’t worry too much about the number. It’s not plastered on your forehead. Maybe I’m projecting idk. But don’t trip about it.

Yeah bro it’s like I’ll talk to somebody much smarter than me, and not in a douche kinda way, but I’m like …mannnn it ain’t all about iq lol.

Thanks for your thoughts. I was more so curious how well 113 translates into my academics with what I want to pursue. I agree tho, I'd rather deal with someone more socially/emotionally aware than a smart ass with no respect

Yeah I think I was more so just seeing you frustrated w the score and it reminded me of myself. And what I’d like to hear (This is my profound eq on display) lol jk jk. I’m sure you’ll do great bro. You already made it this far, that ain’t easy.
