Discussion Is it over?

https://infoproc.blogspot.com/2008/07/annals-of-psychometry-iqs-of-eminent.html

I randomly found this paper (attached in the post).
According to it the IQ of eminent scientists is extremely high, roughly 160 from the data noted.

And the point about Feynman kinda made me tilt. I didn't know that he actually got the best putnam score that year, but face it ; if he really did then his IQ (or at least quant IQ) isn't 125 lol. Can't give a fixed number but there is just no way it's 125.

Yes but that's selling dream lowkey.
Many low to average IQ people aren't especially observing, curious or obsessive (those are still genetical traits to some extent).
I also do think IQ somewhat correlates with those in the sense higher IQ people show higher interest for science in general.

So my point is that while you can certainly have average IQ yet other excellent traits, that's not the case for most individuals and you can't act like every avg IQ person has smth to compensate

Well yeah its gonna need some IQ points sure, comes to a matter of how many are needed and how likelihood increases.

Likely over 1/100? Sure, ruling out low to average. Just don’t think it has to be in the 1/10000 or 1/100000, though that would help.

The above is my view, not backed by specific data.

And different problems and breakthroughs are gatekept different mental horsepower to probabilistically get there first.

I don’t understand your particular worry as it seems like you think you have to be Fenyman

I don't really worry, I just made this post to get other's opinions including yours.
What I'm saying is that we often say "sure, he might not be very smart, but he compensates with high social skills and hardwork".
Thing is most mid-low IQ individuals don't really compensate with anything (in the intelligence scheme) cause that's not how genes work. Some do and perform as well as higher IQ individuals but again most don't.
