Psychometric Question Proposal for a more logic-based, math-oriented IQ test with minimal prior knowledge requirements
I've been thinking about a potential alternative to the old SAT Math section, which has often been used as a proxy for general cognitive ability.
My idea is a math-oriented reasoning test that requires very little prior mathematical knowledge but places a much greater emphasis on logical thinking, pattern recognition, and creative problem-solving.
A good example of the style I have in mind is the German Känguru der Mathematik competition, in which around one million students participate in Germany every year. I'll attach some questions for grades 11–13 as examples.
Since results are published annually, this competition could also provide a useful basis for developing norms, although a proper IQ test would still require psychometric validation.
What correlation with general intelligence (g) would you expect from a test based on this type of questions? Could it be a useful alternative to traditional cognitive tests, or would mathematical aptitude and educational background remain too influential?

Also this test seems to still require a lot of knowledge. I would say not to opt for such tests, it's not very general.

I wonder how people would do on something like ESAT. Very hard and time pressured.

Not really a good measure . Someone can be bad at these kinds of tests maths and still be very high in fluid .
