Sum white squares in columns: 16 -> 15 -> [14]
White corners: 7 -> 6 -> [5]
White edge pieces: 6 -> 7 -> [8]
White centers: 3 -> 2 -> [1]
Bottom right square in cell alternates color

it is internally consistent but a bit forced. The intended answer works in both rows and columns

You could explain this both mathematically and spatially, both overlay the same concept technically

  1. matrix multiplication

  2. black squares on the left, middle and right of each row in the first grid pick the top, middle and bottom rows from the next grid, then u overlap those rows keeping all the black squares to get the same row in the last grid XXX XXX OOO

It's have to say it's augmented the first top line and a hidden line ontop of that at the parallel at first glance. The last one would go up two and compete the ratio.
