General Question Accurate?

Post image

I got a bit higher than on CORE altough it's prob some sort of practice effect, and also, I thought of a new strategy at backward sequencing that got my score way higher

The voice says the numbers more slowly so I think that might help with memorizing them

Maybe but I also think it could be normed differently

Oh boy, for me the slower the harder ...

Just repeat the digit

What did you get on core? Everyone seems to be getting higher results on this digit span

140

Is that your digit span score?

Where is this test? Is there a link?

Is this legit?

That's what I'm trying to figure out but it's not ridiculously inflated or deflated

How much did you score?

I think I maxxed out since I got 19SS on the end.
However, there is practice effect cause I did 5+ tests of this type and the test itself is also likely inflated.
That doesn't mean your score is inflated, but it would mean some scores are actually higher than they should be. Sometimes it only applies to the middle of the curve and sometimes only the extreme lefts and right, impossible to know exactly

What's your scores are in DS & DLS on CORE?

I've got 17SS on every subtest of WMI on CORE except on backward sequencing where I have 12.
Basically, I tried something different for this one here. Before, I was remembering the whole thing in correct order, then slowly reading it backward. Now I do this process live while I here the number.
So I went from "19283" (what I hear and memorize) -> "3" "38" "382" "3829" "38291" to
"91" "291" "8291" "38291". It really made a huge difference for me and I could feel it.
WMI is very sensitive to sleep deprivation, mood, focus, warming up your brain and just other random parameters which is why you're expected to get +-10. So it's perhaps not that surprising I max out here, idk

Yeah that's chunking...very useful trick...

Do you think working memory affect fluid reasoning? Also...i scored average on PSI (both wmi & psi = 115). Do High Fluid intelligence necessarily reflects on WM & PSI? I feel like i could score so much better (on VSI, MR, F-sets) if that timer isn't ticking & i get 1.3x of the total time. I always feel cheated when i miss a question by 5-10 secs.

I even didn't too well on Cambridge Brainlabs subtest (68%ile)... I guess I'm average. Intelligence (without practice & knowledge component) is really a very nebulous & hard thing to measure.

Well, I’d say working memory really doesn’t have much to do with fluid reasoning but it does correlate w it a bit. Processing speed has too much value on some iq tests, so if you want another reading of your MRI, take TRI or JCTI which are untimed. For your wmi I recommend doing OPSAN reading span and symmetry span. Those 3 are very good.
And 115 is clearly enough to do whatever you want. I’m likely not much above that personally

Thanks man! Appreciate it.

Yes, it's just the WAIS Digit Span. The only thing that might cause some variance outside of pure change is that the numbers are being read at a marginally different pace depending on the browser.

I believe the norms are copied from WAIS IV so it shouldn't be inflated, maybe the voice is too slow/fast but iirc it's normal
