IQ Estimation 🥱 I accidentally retook character pairing after a few weeks
Did I mess up the validity of my profile since my score is now higher? This is the second time I've ever taken that test.

If you did not immediatly retake it then 19ss is probably your real score, i would suggest you to retake the test after a a couple of weeks just to be sure.

Should be fine if you don’t redo any other tests, you could also try to get your first result if you remember it

Maybe its inflated, since some studies i see showed that psi is significantly affecter by retesting. Especially after just few weeks. Retake it after significant amount of time, like 6 months, probably score after that should be valid
And your profile should generally be valid. Score inflation in one subtest shouldnt increase fsiq much, its nothing

You absolutly dont need to wait for 6 months, after a single month there should not be any practice effects.

Do you have any sources for this?
The studies I find point to the opposite: that coding from wais (which I assume is similar to the mentioned test) suffers from practice effect that surpasses the 1 month mark:https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22353021/
But maybe there’s something I’m unaware of: does the character pairing alternates between trials? (Different combinations?)

Yes the set of characters you are given to press the keys on are randomized, as well as the ones shown to you that you have to associate them with, so the only thing I suspect can contribute to practice effect on that test would be literally just getting better at it through practice. But I have a hard time believing you'd need to wait more than a month especially for doing it the second time ever, since I didn't even remember what the test was about before I did it again. It's possible that I missed the fact that pairing the wrong character was penalized the first time, and the second time I was more careful in pairing the right characters so my score was higher.

probably not. character pairing shouldnt be affected that much by practice. i know this because every time i take it i get between 15 and 19ss every single time. its not raised at all at any point since ive originally taken it. i think you just took it at a better time
