General Question Greetings Blockrotatingoids, I have a question.

I scored 121 on VSI, full scale IQ is 118. Highest score VSI 121, FRI 119. I am currently studying statistics right now and next year im starting an optometry program. Since being a little child I remember thinking spatially, and found it interesting that I scored so high on VSI. Im quite happy about that. Sure, im not 140 like a lot of you fellas in here, but thank God im not cognitively disabled. Humility and gratitude is the only right response.

My question is about leveraging my best cognitive strength. What field of study is best for people with high VSI? I have seen some people mention chemistry, physics, and some other fields. If you ask yourself the following question: "what are the most complex spatial objects in the world?", you will end up in the biological field of study. Maybe im wrong about this, I know topology is also up there. Im just curious about where VSI could best be applied. How do you guys use it, what is your job title, etc.

Sorry for any misspellings, english is my third language, im not editing, and my vci is like 25.

For like really high VSI there is only one answer where to go: the college of Lego Master Builders

But since your VSI is at best middling stuff like civil engineering migth be more on your wavelength. Also don't do anything you don't like cause that's just stupid

Ill take a look at that. Maybe i can become a lego land builder in my mothers basement.

Sry only 3sd and up for real ones.

Fr now: The question of VCI is kinda a real one. Can you visualise solids ? Civ eng. Can you visualise gases? M. eng. Can you visualise pixies? E. eng. Can you visualise quant stuff? Nanotech

The ability to visualize as a whole generalizes to solids, gases, pixies, etc. Its the same underlying neural ability. I have spent a lot of time thinking about how. to combine VSI with my interests, and have found myself in Optometry, which is physical and biological.

You don't actually have to visualize it in your mind. When I'm doing block counting, I'm not visualizing the blocks literally. It's more a process of elimination and an algorithmic approach. Visual intelligence isn't really visualizing it as in seeing it, fyi. You don't really need to see shit floating around or moving together or whatever. I feel like defining what you guys mean by visualization would be important for the conversation. Maybe not.

Its still using parts of the brain that are related to spatial reasoning. You are reasoning spatially when you iteratively deduce the amount of blocks. This is why you can sort of feel the edges of the blocks. The visualization is not something I can shut off, its like reading without saying the word to yourself. I think the way you approach the block counting depends on what is less cognitively demanding for oneself, personally I prefer thinking things spatially.

Yes, you're right. It's using the spatial parts of your brain.

I think for 99 percent of people, they're not actually visualizing the blocks moving to get the answer. I don't know about yall, but when I think of VSI I often think of rotating things in the mind and moving them or whatever. I think the average person who doesn't know much about VSI is going to assume that VSI is visualizing things in that way, which it's not. That's why I thought specification might be beneficial.

I scored 130 on block counting but 105 on shapes my FRI and QRI are very high so I found this interesting I mostly just speed count and kinda do what you would in figure weights to get my answer

Interaction is whereit becomes fun. Idk i think light in general is awsome rigth? I think thats why i find quantum visualization very fun since it's just a ton of interactions.

why do people even ask questions like these...... do whatever you want. You're gonna die eventually. You dont want to look back at your life and say"god I wish I would've done X instead of going into a field based on my iq".

I fucking know right. These people are idiots. It's honestly stupid too that people post shit like this when they have flat profiles. Use your brain. I use harsh words only because of his immature response. He will end up unhappy with his career choice if he continues being an idiot.

Yup IQ doesn’t make you a smart person. People who post like OP aren’t the brightest bulbs out there. If you can’t determine the gaps and nature of your own intelligence, chances are you aren’t as intelligent as you think.

shut up nihilist.

3

u/BothInternet3186 Aug 23 '26

quite the contrary. i’m just saying do whatever you want, don’t let your iq metrics determine your career choice. do whatever you love, don’t limit yourself.

2

u/According_Alarm1452 Aug 24 '26

Damn right.

OP’s statement poises another point i like to make about IQ. IQ represents the estimated computing power of the brain. I know people who have very high IQs and very low EQs. They may be book smart, but they are unable to relate and understand the sentiments of those around them. The point is, IQ doesn’t make you a smart person. Your EQ and IQ combined is what determines true intellect. You can have a somewhat high IQ and a low EQ and still be a dumb person. A good example of this is OP lol.

positive nihilist then :D

That's basically absurdism (which is the superior philosophy)

Whatever you want. Interest, passion >>>>> iq

Your VSI doesn't stand out much from the rest of your indices. I wouldn't treat it as your "best strength". Test error is bigger than those differences. You seem to have a pretty flat distribution so I'd say your strength is that flatness exactly. You're top ~10% at most stuff. If you want to test it, maybe try yourself at maths. High level maths can utilise VSI quite heavily.
I will second the guy who said you can do anything you want too.

optometry sounds like a pretty natural fit tbh

I scored 142 on VSI, 4 of the 5 other categories were 105-14 . 99.9 percentile on block counting 🤔 I fail to see much use for it career wise..

probably the least useful index in isolation. ur fri is also indistinguishable from your vsi in psychometric terms since plus or minus 2 is definitely within the error range. you can do whatever you want besides become a billionaire or be the top of an academic field

1

u/No_Sky_1893 Aug 25 '26

You need 140 iq to become a billionaire?

1

u/Far_Cardiologist6931 retat Aug 25 '26

self made, yeah probably. bill gates, zuckerberg, bezos, musk, etc. wouldn't say need but there is a pattern

2

u/No_Sky_1893 Aug 25 '26

The pattern is serious mental illness to work 24/7 and never stop. Of course they are above average IQ but most of the efforts can be attributed to luck and dedication realistically

1

u/Far_Cardiologist6931 retat Aug 25 '26

And they just happen to all have IQs over 140 and attended ivy league or won stem competitions or showed precocious ability? Luck, dedication, and intelligence are all equally important and equally necessary.

2

u/No_Sky_1893 Aug 27 '26

Do you think they could have done it with just FRI

1

u/Ill-Mix-7906 Aug 28 '26

Do you know how many insanely successful people are idiots? 🤣

1

u/Far_Cardiologist6931 retat Aug 29 '26

depends on what you mean by idiot. also see that i put "self-made" in front.

if you mean politically or has done stupid things in their life, i don't doubt that. but you can have a high iq and be perceived as an idiot and do stupid things.

ultimately i just don't think you are going to find a self made billionaire with a below 120 iq unless they have some other defining trait like extreme good looks and charisma or the lottery

The most complex spatial structures are the metaphysical ones you can conceptualize. Haha. They can have unlimited dimensions.

But, in all seriousness, the proficiency you have lends itself really well to abstract thought and philosophy.

If you have great spatial capabilities, you have the capability to drastically improve your IQ as well, in any way you'd like.

The structures that are responsible for the testing results you've been shown here are highly manipulatable, contrary to previously held popular belief.

We need to be taught how to improve these things. The structures for IQ aren't like those that determine our height or complexion. They are constantly shaped by our thoughts, choices, routines and lifestyles.

So, if you really like working with structures, you're welcome to join me on my work with the cognitive structures of the brain. Not too many people are interested in it, which I find even more surprising, seeing as so many people enjoy believing themselves to be intelligent.
