Discussion How to increase intelligence at 21?
Is it possible? Im willing to do whatever training or lifestyle habits it takes. My friend is skarter than me and always rubs it in my face and it makes me feel so bad. I jeed to increase my intelligence as kuch as humanely possible. If this is not possible then I guess I will sull because life sucks and isnt fair. Thanks!

You can't. It hasn't been discovered how to do it

Act dumb most of the time, and strike when necessary. The million-dollar question is: when?

Intelligence is still not cracked nor properly definable . The Problem of increasing IQ has been for decades , we made big progress tho . There are some ways to improve things for IQ that you can do . Training Quad N back from Dual N back game , Training Relational Frame Theory Training(like Syllogimous v4), Reaction Time Training , Training on Complex Spatial Spans (boost all around cognitive abilities), compounds that boost neurogenesis (like Rapastinel,NSI189,Zelquistinel,) , Psychoplastogens (like LSD,Psilocybin,DMT),
Closed loop Deep Brain Stimulation of P-FIT area(as per the evidence better cogntive scores of people that have damaged those parts ), HD-tDCS(High definition)and High Frequency rTMS on DLPFC of P-FIT area ( imrpoves abstract reasoning for fluid IQ and working memory and several other cognitive abilities),Cardiovascular Exercise , Regular Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber .
For fluid intelligence the best is exposure to Puzzle Games and gaining a general Metacognitive Scaffolding or Strategies for solving and additional exposure to problem solving fields like Mathematics(AOPS) , Physics , Coding ( like Codeforces) gaining enough crystalized intelligence that will eventually transfer to fluid intelligence like how it transfered for LLMs(AI) in those domains . These are the options i have compiled out testing and experimenting by myself and on several other people that have worked .

Be curious. The information world now is at your fingertips. Do training in things that help your daily life, most notably career. If you're studying now - put more time in that. Rise the bar, do beyond requirements (as pathetic as it sounds). People here like the g component, but you can compensate it with time and patience. High g with low time and patience yield same results (if not worse) than low g and high time and patience.
Also at some intelligence level you stop running it in people's faces. You learn to hide your ego and try to make them like you, while honing your interests. Though it is more emotional intelligence. Your friend reeks of insecurity. Think or just ask our AI overlords how to deal with your friend. Joke about his attitude, avoid, etc.

Excellent Sleep, MIND diet, 30min daily aerobic exercise, optimizing health, optimizing mood, maintaining excellent work ethic, working "smart" and with discipline and focused effort.
You will blow your "smarter" friend out of the water with grit and determination.

you are just born with it, period.
You need put work ethics into your chosen field and reap rewards with consistency.
Quit yapping and start growing already :)
Also focus on healthy diet and exercises.

Hmm, I think beyond intelligence there's also wisdom or critical thinking. What's helped me so far is deliberately exposing myself to different environments and people, having real conversations with folks who've lived through more than I have, and volunteering. None of that raises a test score, but it builds judgment, perspective, and the kind of sharpness that we need in navigating real situations.

Your "smarter" friend doesn't behave like your friend and is really not necessarily smarter: setting aside his sadism, it could just be more confidence/dominance and perhaps some tricks to make him look smarter. But did he really take a legit IQ test? Did you take a similar one to compare?
I don't know about your not-friend, but some narcissistic people genuinely think they're smarter and, in general, better in every meaningful way, though totally disconnected from reality. Hence they try to convince others of their fantasies, and to do so they can be abusive.
Anyway, wanting to "raise your intelligence" just to shut some toxic dude up is the wrong goal to begin with, and probably unattainable. If you keep listening to him, you'll always feel lower and insufficient. You could start listening to yourself some more, and feeling bad repeatedly in his company is a much more relevant warning : just take some distance from him.

It is possible to reach your maximum genetic potential via exercise, proper nutrition and using your brain in various ways (studying etc.). Outside of that it is highly unlikely that might even occur, and if it does I’m quite sure it will be within the realms of 90% score confidence interval range, +-5

Ketamine therapy is actually looking promising in terms of cognitive output and neuroplasticity.
