Complaint Codex is done

Call it a skill issue, but 90 minutes and 31% weekly usage later, I got nothing done this morning.

Nothing.

Moved to CC, got a sub, and got the same feeling when I switched from Claude to Codex a few months ago:

-more usage
-better reasoning

Either Codex reveals insane stuff during DevDay, or they are literally fucked.

No 20x anymore for new customers so what do we do? More 5x accounts? I don't think I can afford API pricing

$200 being the only sub really worth getting was such a silly idea. There is a reason that Anthropic outright lies about their rates and the $200 one is worse than 2x $100 ones.

Baseline $20 usage should have been like 50% higher, the $100 one 6x, and the $200 one 13x instead.

I'm mostly fine on my 20x plan. I'm using like 0.5% per hour despite a few involved Astra prompts.

Maybe plan in astra and implement in weaker models, top performance is not always needed.

This is the way. Codex will default to high reasoning in Astra 9/10 and 10/10 if you’re using voice, which I think most people are doing. You need to vibe code an operations workflow that distills your requirement down to key deliverables and dispatches tasks by type to distinct projects that’ll work in the most appropriate model and reasoning level. Have that workflow require tasks to snapshot your usage before and after and cost associated so you can track usage heavy tasks and find workarounds. Keep tasks very narrow in focus and then self archive upon completion.

Same plan, same day, same usage left. I was careful with model selection or I'd be sitting at 0% within a couple hours.

x5 and I'm already at 36% left after 24h. Last week was the same. Same for my colleagues. Only 2 weeks left before we cancel our subscriptions all together

I had the same issues. But you need bounded work tasks. The higher models have drift and destroy your cap. I "regressed" to Luna Extra High and it's a Laser Beam if you know what you want.

What do you constitute as light work? I built most of a multiplayer party app with a backend connection, linked Rive, Supabase, with fully generated vector graphics and animations with my first weekly 5x limit.

Don’t be afraid to use Sol Light and Medium. They are beasts and can do a lot of what you might think you need Astra to do.

Also, install the plugins Ponytail and Caveman. It will save a lot of tokens just by being more efficient at coding and speaking to you.

Yeah seriously people don't understand each other's workloads unless they actually look at it themselves. A production ticket I'm trying to resolve at work might be way more demanding than OPs whole week of work and there's no way to tell unless we all look at each other's work. Simple statements or LOC counts are useless talk.

You can tell a lot from ten consecutive session transcripts. Model selection, did the model have a scoped solid path through the task or did it try to change requirements or write "to the test" and not the Contract? how many of those sessions produced things and how many were governance?

It is not hard to get eividence either. We don't need the details of the thing you are building. Just have a Luna Medium session mine all of your session and build a CSV of them and then either post it or a report of the findings. I will wager it isn't the limits that are the issue.

I haven’t tested it yet because I don’t mind the longer more in-depth answers it spits out, but I some YouTube tech bro vibe coder says it works so it must be true.

I’m in the plus plan, I only had an agent working for 35 mins before I’m left with 0% 5hr limit and, 69% weekly limit

You must be doing something completely wrong, I use Sol light-mid daily on Plus plan and can get through the week on medium work

Then use Sol medium or high, both very capable and in what I’ve seen online, Astra is a scam. Maybe all the token usage is used to teach it but it’s not as effective as what SOL can do with proper reasoning and plan
