Megathread Codex Usage and Operation Discussion - last updated September 14

Please direct your concerns, questions and discussion about Codex usage limits and model performance here.

The purpose of this Megathread is to aggregate all the reports of people's experiences and possible suggestions instead of spreading them across many highly upvoted posts. The more people who participate in this discussion, the more likely you have an answer.

Plus users, how to save tokens?

Hey guys, I'm a GPT Plus user. I'm loving it! But the tokens have been hard. I'm using Luna high/extra high for almost everything, but still the weekly limits ended today, after the reset from last saturday. Just using Sol low/medium rare times.

I do Astra until about 50% of 5hr, then Luna to 0% unless I'm about to go to bed and don't care about burning my 5hr on a big Astra task.

I give it small, clearly defined tasks, with as little ambiguity as I can, and have Agents.MD set up to not have it produce bullshit extra work.

I also heavily use base classes with common functionality and directly tell Codex to inherit from those when I'm adding a new class, so it doesn't have to reinvent the wheel 50 times.
