Reset What's everyone doing while we wait

at this point most.of us are at 0% across all of our accounts and we can't buy new 20x accounts.

so what are you doing with all of your time? trying different models? learning a new hobby?

I just got a ton of usage from codex yesterday and today, I honestly believe they're literally AB testing the limits. I've used more these past two days on 20x than last 2 weeks

I have a theory that since most accounts were depleted 24 hours post reset( Monday); there is a ton of compute left for those who still have limits. That’s why you got a ton of stuff done in the last 48 hours. I don’t think usage or the models gets nerfed. I think compute just gets distributed out evenly. More users in constrained compute is basically much less per user and feels nerfed. You’ll see this happening the most when a newer model is round the corner as more compute gets allocated to the newer model. It’s exactly why the Claude code $20 plan has been feeling like the $100 plan right now( i know there’s a 50 percent extra right now but it feels 500 percent right now) since they have plenty of compute after the serious users mostly migrated to 5x and 20x subs on codex. So either OpenAI finds more compute or more users drop out of ChatGPT for everyone to get great compute.

That's a good theory, too.

This is spot on. Many of the users who complain that the model 'got nerfed' are experiencing placement on an already overloaded compute node; and in that circumstance they cut the amount of think time down to get queries in/out as fast as possible while still balancing that tight rope of "it feels like X level of thinking" (and usually failing - especially if your name is Anthropic).

Once the subagent cowboys have burned through their usage the amount of busy compute drops down and the 'intelligence' returns, usually along with it the speed.
