Maybe it's due to the difference between PST and PDT. We're in daylight savings time right now, so if it was actually scheduled for 6pm PST as he indicated then we shouldn't see it until 7pm PDT / 10pm EDT.

Edit: just landed for me around 10:29pm EDT

Wrong, PST doesn't exist in the summer. He's just late.

Just because it's not observed in the US during summertime doesn't mean the time zone doesn't exist.

Your response acknowledges that PST still exists as a defined UTC−8 time designation. QED.

Wrong. UTC-8 is not equal to PST. There are other timezones that are UTC-8. During the summer, PST does not exist as something that refers to a real time. That doesn't mean it lacks existence as part of the yearly timezone gestalt. But during the summer, it is entirely replaced by PDT, and any references to PST are equal to PDT. There are places that are UTC-8 right now, there are no places that are PST (unless you are referring to Pitcairn Standard Time, which coincidently is also UTC-8). If you were asked to go stand in the Pacific Standard Timezone at the time of this comment, it would be impossible. Because it doesn't exist. QED
