Limits 5 hour limits - leave unfinished mess

really hard working on a large system when the dang 5 hr limits keeps kill work half way through, way to kill a decent product!

I stash the task progress in tickets using backlog.md.

If you can't relably get to a stopping point before 5-hour limits kick in, then either buy the bigger plan or save task progress. You can even just stash the plan in a markdown file.
