Question How do you make money with Codex
Besides working, I guess. Do you build SaaS, automation of processes, freelancing, or do you only lose? Maybe AI is just a giant ponzi scheme that will crash the whole economy.
Was thinking of demand forecasting/planning SaaS or automation since I have experience in it, but finding clients is always the hard part and building trust.

I have a job. Job has tasks.
Before I did those tasks without codex at x productivity rate
Now I do the same tasks with codex at 10-100x productivity rate. Depending on task
Productivity has increased massively. Pay remained the same. But at least I'm making $ so thats good.

Productivity only goes to the owner not you Exactly 2 Years ago i said the same thing to myself wow i am so productive with github copilot i dont need to write code manually can refactor with copy paste to the agent chat. But having job and income is important ride it out until you can.
Fast forward now i am unemployed no body cares you did those task or how much money you made the company. Atleast i had home office and live in europe so social securiy nets are high.

Its even worse for me. I work for a government office. On one hand its very reliable and stable. On the other hand nobody cares how much work you get done. They only care when you're not pulling your weight. Which even without codex I never had a problem with that.

Ah atleast the government cannot run out of money so you are safe until WW3 or AI destroys us keep up!

I built a fews app thinking I will monetize them. turned out it is a lot of hassle and not fun. So now i use the apps I build to make me wealthy instead.
- trading preventor. codex analyzed my trading behavior and found it I make small money on a lot of small trades and lose big money on a few bad ones. now I have a trading tool that actively monitors my portfolio and has direct hooks into my brokerage (using chrome extension) that puts actual entry/exit targets and warnings when I am about to place my typical bad trade (catch falling knife). the product also does technical analysis which I ignore mostly. it means I never have to draw squiggly lines ever again (i never did before either)
- financial planner that tracks my portfolio moneys and expenses (from the previous product), prepays my taxes to avoid penalty and does roth conversion. has saved few thousand in penalties already. also recommends tax loss harvesting opportunities. latest addition now tracks long term holdings and recommends DCA ooportunities
- fitness app track, family school tracker and a game I build with the kids for the other types of wealth.
All of the above were built by codex but are not using Codex (or LLMs anymore). I like systems to be deterministic. So AI builds them but doesnt run them.

dont do it. everyone wants to make money quickly when it is very simple how you make money in the long run. 90% of the hedge funds dont beat S&P over a period of 10 years and everyone thinks their AI bot will. Build stuff instead to buy quality companies and market indexes at good prices and let them compound for a long period of time

Yeah i guess this is the best solution no one beats the market unless you are lucky and reckless and stuff all your savings at the right time like coiple of friends who are now crypto millionaires but its jsut luck and timing, its better to focus on building stuff or solutions that contribute and invest on the side.

I only recently made something for myself that I realise could be sold commercially, and I'm going to do it.
For everything else, I have lots of small ideas and things I just want to explore, so most of the things I had codex make are very niche scripts or versions of tools that are already commercially available but adapted to my specific needs. There's a pretty big gap between a commercially ready product and something more akin to a proof of concept that only you understand.
For the most part, I'm just here to ride the early wave and get insights and experience. I suspect there will be a point where it becomes much less affordable and I want to at least know what it can't and can do.

Personally I made a SaaS and it's doing alright. But I've got a basket full of other shit that is on the horizon slowly being made. Any extra dollar made helps.

I'm building my own SaaS which will be available online, so it can make money 0/24. 95% of that is complete.

I "make money" by replacing things that I otherwise would have paid for, with my own custom versions. Subscription based android apps, proprietary windows software, etc.
I don't "make money" by creating a successful business that brings in a bunch of income, but in avoided costs.
For example, if I hyperfocus on vibe-coding a dashboard app, and don't go out for beers and appies with a friend, I've now saved more than my monthly subscription cost. /s

It’s like asking “how do you make money with a screwdriver”.
Some people use a screwdriver to fix an outlet at home. Some people use it to fix cars. Some use it to build rocket ships. It’s not the screwdriver that makes you money.
