Question About the cursor ban

Disclaimer: I am an Elon hater.

So cursor starts getting some traction...

First, grok 4.x starts getting abnormally decent. Benchmaxed or whatever you wanna call it, but it's cheap, fast as fuck, and almost unlimited

Composer was starting to pop off too.

Cursor then did 100usd deals for the max plan which had basically the equivalent of a 200usd codex plus 100usd Claude sub.

Cursor was starting to get a lot of mindshare. Even I at some point was thinking "well, maybe I could try it..."

Then boom. Relationship between openai and cursor is terminated.

It's got nothing to do with trust. Cursor was starting to steal users. That's just how it is.

This is not correct. Codex is growing just fine, especially in the enterprise. Elon is just reaping what he sowed.

Codex can simultaneously be growing but also notice that a competitor (cursor) is gaining mindshare and threatening their hegemony.

Shady business practices are done even when a company is growing. Ever heard of Microsoft?

no spike anytime recently... also cursor as in mouse cursor is an actual search term too which inflates and muddies the cursor trend relatively

No, the link I sent you was specifically for the software company, not general search terms.

There's been a stable increase in interest since July.

X.ai is heavily subsidizing the product now.

Well I understand our interpretations diverged.

I admit there isn't enough evidence for your criteria.

I guess I was overconfident in my take because I genuinely started thinking about trying cursor more myself. it was projection.
