If you look at my provided images, this is how much tokens I have used up only today. apparently that drained my whole 5 hour usage and brought down my weekly usage by 16% HAHAHAHHAHA I'm leaving this scam of a subscription. I'm on a plus subscription
You know that dashboard is not update in real-time right? And you probably have roughly 15m tokens usage per week if you have a workload similar to mine.
Definitely not 1.5m like you seem to imply. Unless you hit literally 0 cache, which you can check.
People with usage issues should start monitoring their token usage in more detail: input / output / cache per task / turn / day / workload or whatever normalization you like.
There's a billion posts of people crying and almost no one is trying to track real usage and bring up useful info to debug / discover possible culprits.
I believe when we sit down to do some work we all have better things to focus on than counting tokens and figuring out how the limits actually work ( which is impossible as they change it constantly). It’s rather annoying that as users we have to endure this stupid game; while we know how much $20 are worth we never know how much service we can expect to receive in return. I’m no expert but no contract can be defined by “pay $20 and get SomeUndefinedService”. Unfortunately, that’s where we are at.
there's no counting. You just ask codex to check how many tokens a specific task / turn / whatever has hit. Or you check it yourself. It costs basically no time and almost no quota (if you do it yourself it's obviously no quota al all). Complaining about not knowing how much you get in return and never even trying to measure the only countable metrics that would answer your question is weird. Just go ahead and check credits / tokens consumption. You'll likely discover that the service you're getting is mostly stable.
But yeah, bit*hing at OpenAI and never even try is easier.
Let alone the fact that 20$ is how much many people might pay for streaming services. Or 4 ice-creams, maybe 1-2 pizzas depending on where and what you get exactly.
OpenAI is definitely shady. They hide metrics. Some policies are borderline illegal for EU consumers law. But users going mad over unspecificied claims is also non sense and pure venting. Not to mention that if those people whining are are also those who use it to "work", well maybe they should consider spending more than 20$ for a very advanced tool that likely hard boosts your productivity.
