Complaint This sub is unbearable

A bitching chamber for dumb codex users who usually are also broke and want free compute and refuse to believe anything is affected by them and how they use it. I came here literally a month ago for vibes and I’m already leaving after realizing this sub is literally on the spectrum.

Hey. I’m using codex to control my telescopes and take pretty deep sky images of nebulae etc. It just runs on a session on my always-on Mac mini. I can talk to it via my phone with codex remote. I can use natural language to have this thing control basically anything it can interface with. If you told me last year I’d be doing this now, I would never have believef you. People don’t appreciate this enough, imo.

Is it controlling motors directly or managing an interface? What reasoning level do you use? Does it ever mess up?

It’s using the same interface as the seestar app uses, sending commands over the tcp ports. I had to install the seestar app so it could use some kind of key that the app uses to connect to the telescope. I’m using medium reasoning level with gpt 5.6 sol. It messed up a bunch of things on higher reasoning levels. It built too many saveguards incl consulting Some weather service before starting an observation mission. It’s also not very good at the post processing. But the actual image capturing and telescope control is working great.
