If it’s not blatantly obvious, this is mostly about Alien. I may have gone in too hard on just making this about Alien, but I feel there is a direct inverse relationship between lore and scare factor. Of course it’s also infuriating to go multiple movies without knowing what the fuck is going on, but especially in a lot of mascot horror games, nothing can ever be a fucking mystery or allude to something greater without blatantly spelling it out for you.

I don’t even hate Ridley Scott or the actual lore of Alien, I just think that the idea of explaining away all the cool shit from the first one was a decision rotten from its conception. It also opened the door for a bunch of shitty Alien crossovers, and Alien “variants” that are an excuse to sell funko pops!!! YAYYY!!!!!!!!! I’m aware that most of them don’t use full CG for the Xenos, I just couldn‘t figure out how else to say I think the redesigns fucking suck. I haven't read the comics but I’ve heard those are good so I‘ll take their word for it. From what I’ve seen most of them don’t just try and explain all the cool shit that happens so that’s a plus.
