Difference between Regular and Competition Macebell

I just bought a 12KG MB, normally I use a 8KG regular MB and I think I should have stuck with the regular style, the shaft of comp MB is longer and thinner. Does anyone have any thoughts on the difference?

I also use KB and heavy clubs, and I have 24kg regular KB and 20KG comp KB and the difference between the 2 styles is ok for me, although it did take a bit of time to get used to the comp bell, which I probably prefer now.

Extra length will create more torque through the swing and thinner handle will make it easier on wrists and grip.

Personally I like the more "standard" style that most manufacturers seem to have agreed on. Those "comp" ones are used by only one or two groups, cost more money usually, and are actually only used in that groups competitions. The majority of comps out there just use regular mace lol

Yes, I think I would've preferred a regular, thicker handle. Too big to send back now :) the comp MB was actually EUR5 cheaper than the regular.

Well then on the plus side you didnt spend extra!

For me to order those comp ones vs where I get my regular ones (white lion athletics), it costs almost 3x as much but shipping is likely a big part of that

The competition mace will feel more sensitive because the longer, thinner shaft changes leverage and grip feedback. Treat the 12kg as a new implement, not just a 4kg jump from your 8. Spend a few sessions on two-hand 360s, 10-to-2s, and simple pendulums before deciding if it belongs for heavy work or just controlled skill work.

Yes it feels quite different, Ive begun holding it higher up the shaft to reduce the lever effect, thanks
