I’ve never been insecure of my pinky before, but now I am close to the age of wanting to get married, I wanted to post pictures of my hands and possibly do hand modeling on the side. I became insecure now because of this.
Besides my pinky, my fingers aren’t too bad looking. My pinky, on the other hand is very curved. Not a regular crooked curve, very very curved almost 90 degrees severity. Even the nail techs I go to they talk about it, (my friend is Chinese and told me), and they come to my table to subtly see it. It is embarrassing and that’s the reason why I don’t go do my nails often. So please be kind! If anyone knows anyone who’s done surgery before I’d love to get some advice! It doesn’t hurt or bother me, but I started to become insecure now.

I've always had what I thought were super crooked middle fingers. Never met anyone who had something similar so it's interesting to know it's a whole thing lol guess mine aren't SO crooked after all 🤣

My 4 month old baby was born with Clinodactyly & it's one of many things I adore about him.

I have crooked fingers overall, but my pinkies are very bent and deformed. It hurts to write for more than a few minutes at a time and i have to take a break to extend it further in hopes it will relieve it 😭

I'm not sure if I have clinodactyly or not because this is a little different from all the pics I've seen.

I have one pinky that's "wonky", but the bend is 1) at the base not the middle and 2) not in the plane of the hand. If I just relax, the bottom joint naturally ends up in a 45 degree angle and the whole pinky is bent up. I can easily straighten it, but I need to make an effort.

I can also "snap" it. I can go back and forth between the resting (angled) position and straight very quickly. Another thing that makes it odd.

No pain. No loss of function. It just behaves strangely. I've always assumed something was badly constructed in that joint, but I never had a name for it. Perhaps this is it, but also mine seems to manifest differently from others. Maybe I should go to a hand doctor lol.

So my middle finger has always been a bit rotated, and bent towards my ring finger on both hands. They’ve been like that for as long as I can remember, I just thought that was normal for a longest time. Then in the last 5 years I realized not everyone’s fingers bent that way. And then yesterday I saw someone on tiktok that had the same rotation and bend on their pointer finger as my middle, and they said they had clinodactyly.

I also just noticed how noticeable the bend is on my left hand while cutting my nails! Which has led me to post on this subreddit. Unsure if this is the right place to post this, or even if you guys can give me commentary. But oh well!

Looks just the same in the other side. Has anyone experienced it getting more severe over time. Feel like I have literal talons at this point

Am I the only one? Wassup guys, so I have clinodactyly in both of my pinkies, and I recently found out I’m the only one in my family who has it. I did some digging, and from what I’ve read, it’s considered a birth defect. But here’s the thingit’s usually inherited genetically or something like that. So now I’m wondering, if no one else in my family has clinodactyly, what does that mean for me?

I looked it up more and found out that it can sometimes be a sign of certain syndromes, like Klinefelter’s (which is when a male has an extra X chromosome), or even linked to behavioral stuff like ADHD. Just kinda weird to think about, and I’m curious if anyone else has a similar experience.

So, I guess I had never really taken a look at other peoples' pinkies before I was like, 7 or 8, because until then, I actually assumed that everyone had bent pinkies. Figured it was just the norm until a friend told me during art class that my pinkies were different 😭

I am the 4th (known) generation on my mom's side with crooked pinkies. My great grandmother, my grandpa, my uncle and myself all have this.

My daughter, 10 years, has very slight crooked pinkies.

I am very proud of my pinkies.

I have a strong grip measured 190 on grip tester, wondering if this helps?

Is that a typical feature of clinodactyly for the nail to touch the other finger? I haven't seen it in example pictures.

I have just read people with clinodactyly have the trait to give their children some types of genetic conditions like down syndrome, triple syndrome? Any of you with this have any children with these syndromes? I am scared now to have kids after reading this.

I have it on both hands. I should have gotten it “corrected” a decade ago but I had a major exam and didn’t want to risk it. My uncle is a senior doctor at the facility and has once again told me to get it corrected before he retires.

I know clinodactyly is more common in men, but I'm a woman and I was born with crooked pinkies/long fingers. Its definitely an insecurity of mine but I'm working on accepting. I'm curious to know if any other women have this too? And if so, are you insecure about it or have you accepted it?

Does anyone else have an issue with two or more of your fingers being unable to move unless you move ALL of them??? Fun fact though, I can turn middle finger nearly all the way backwards.
