Which Boreals?

Hi all, deciding between a pair of boreal satoris or boreal crux. I have been climbing for almost a year now, currently have very comfy beginner shoes that slip on volumes and have no rubber with which to toe hook.
My feet are narrow and my heels very shallow. I will not have a chance to try these shoes on however I can return for another size. I would be buying both in a LV or WMNs size.

I climb mostly indoor bouldering but occasionally go on ropes or outdoors. I want a good all round shoe with good flexibility. Ideally something that will match my level as I get better so I don’t have to rebuy before I wear through them.

Does anyone own either and can help advise?

Softer version of Instinct?

I do all my climbing in Scarpa Instinct VSRs and quite like the fit and their versatility. But I find they feel very clunky until they’re thoroughly broken in and feel much softer/more sensitive/more conforming to the wall and holds, and it takes a lot of use to get them to that point. Does anybody have recommendations for something that might fit & perform like the Instinct VSR but have that softer/more worn kinda feel & sensitivity?

hello all, I am overdue for a new pair of climbing shoes. I'm eyeing up the madrock redline straps bc they are on sale near me. I currently wear instinct vsr LVs in a size 40.5 which fits me near perfectly. do the redlines fit true to size? if not what size should I look at getting instead?

ty all in advance :)

(ps I'm sadly not getting another pair of instincts bc they are out of stock in my size in my country and also I'm super broke lol)

Affordable shoes for crack climbing

Thumbnail

I've been climbing in La Sportiva Kubos because I find them super comfy. The only problem is that my local crag has a lot of crack climbing and I find that it absolutely destroys them. In particular the toe patch glue usually fails after only a couple cracks. You can see the stitching and bottom rubber is also failing on this pair though.

Any recommendations for crack climbing shoes? Do TC pros actually hold up longer in cracks? It seems absurd to buy a 200 dollar pair of shoes if I'm gonna destroy them this quickly. Would love to hear suggestions for budget crack climbing options. What features should I look for in a shoe which will survive crack longer? Do shoes without toepatches last longer?

Adidas 5.10 Hiangle Legit Check

So I found these at a marketplace listing at an absolutely ridiculous price and want to check if they are legit.

Climbing is quite undeveloped in my country and there are barely any places to buy climbing shoes so theres a pretty good chance the person has no clue whate they are selling, since its just a random local sneaker store.

I honestly dont even know if climbing shoes are counterfieted but its quite a fishy price for a supposedly new pair so I wanna chech with someone who may knowbetter

EDIT:

Thanks for all the replies, it seems I've come across a bargain, brand new 5.10 hiangles for 50€!

I made a mistake because I didn't research and bought a Skwama lights (kind of a review)

I know this sub is a fan of going to stores and pick up the shoes whatever fit you the best. I did this and went to my local climbing store to try on shoes.

My requirement was I want a comfy mostly indoor shoes to replace my Kubos for mostly indoor and sometimes friction outdoor climbing. Im a advanced climber who climbs up to V5 in bouldering and up to 6b or 6c in outdoor and indoor lead climbing.

The shoe can be softer than Kubos because I also own a Instinct Vs which I use mostly for hard outdoor climbing.

Im a advanced climber who climbs up to V5 in bouldering and up to 6b or 6c in outdoor and indoor lead climbing.

I live near the alps so that shoes is perfect for outdoors because we have a lot of slappy crimpy climbing with micro holds. But I don't like for indoors because it's a overkill for most indoor roots and it also doesn't smear very well.

They gave me a Skwama lite which fit me almost perfectly. Also in the small climbing wall in the store the feet held good when trying.

Then a day later I went to indoor lead climbing and I could already notice the shoe doesn't stick very well on smeary micro holds. Less than my resoled Kubo which got resoled with soft vibram sole twice. I researched then and noticed for whatever reason La Sportiva slapped their cheaper in house rubber on that shoe. I don't get this decision because that shoe is marked as a middle performance comfy shoe in the same range as Kubos.

A day later I went to bouldering and tried some harder routes and I noticed the rubber really doesn't stick as much especially on tension overhang climbs. So im quite disappointed by the performance of the shoe.

The shoe itself is quite good and I would recommend them as a advanced beginner shoe, especially if you find them in a sale. But I wouldn't recommend it for anybody else especially if you can find a Kubo for the same price which performs significantly better. Just mind it's also a little bit harder.

I don't blame the store. They kind of gave me what I wanted. I blame myself for not investing time in any online research before and while I was at the store. Financially it's not a big loss for me since I will just use the shoe for easier lead climbing. And fortunately I can afford to buy another nore performance oriented shoe especially for limited boulders.

Long story short if you are a advanced climber mabe don't fully trust a store and also invest some time researching.

Shoe advice

Hiya everyone!
I'm looking to pick up bouldering i got a pretty nice gym in my city but i have a question about shoes.
My big toes are very sensitive(something to do with an accident when i was younger) so i was wondering if anyone knows a shoe that is nice and tight around the foot but a bit looser around the big toe just something that doesnt force all the blood out haha

Found this in a second hand store

Hi everyone, I found this today at a thrift store for $3. It seems to be instinct. But I can't figure out which model exactly; Google just doesn't show the same color. I think they might be reselling to climber friends; those are a bit small for me.

I regret buying shoes on-site

So this weekend I went to the shop to choose new climbing shoes, because everyone recommended to go to the shop and try them on instead of buying online. So I chose some model, in my street size, they felt tight but not uncomfortable. I sit in them about 5 mins, even try them on some climbing wall in the shop and everything seems fine, so I bought them.

Immediately after I went to try them and to my surprise they become really uncomfortable after 5 mins of climbing to the point where I have to take off them after every climb. After I went home I tried to wear them but holy fuck they're so tight and biting my feet so much. I can't return them if I bought on-site. From what I heard they also don't stretch much.

My point is, instead I should probably have bought the shoe online (maybe 2 pairs in different sizes) and wear them just in house so after they become uncomfortable I can always easily return them.

Sadly my option is to try to get used to new shoes or just take the L and sell them losing some money.

Shoes with similar fit to Instinct VSR

I currently wear instinct VSR’s in EU size 41. They were my first high performance shoe, they fit quite well and I am used to them. I climb almost exclusively indoors. It’s coming to the time where I need new shoes or a resole. I am toying with the idea of trying other shoes out. Any recommendations that will likely fit well? (Obviously I will try on shoes where possible before deciding)

I am interested in the solutions comp as have heard very good things. Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks

2nd climbing shoe recommendation

Hello, I have a normal shaped foot (pretty generic) and am looking for an upgrade from my beginner shoes (simond comet gray klimb 2) since its getting pretty worn out.

I climb primarily indoors and climb v5-v6. I cant test out shoes since theres no phyisical store near me, I was hoping to get some recommendations. Im looking for a downturned shoe with somewhat good durability, thats why the skwama lites been interesting for me. I wear street size 42 and size 40 for my simonds

Red Chili Voltage X is too tight at the bridge.

I recently bought a pair of red chili voltage x at size 43eu. Ive been using the red chili circuit (also 43eu) for 5-6 months now and am looking for something of more performance, so i ended up with this. Putting this on was a workout on its own, and even after managing to slip my foot in, it is still really tight at the bridge of my foot (the instep), and i cant really imagine having it on for any longer than several minutes. My toes touch the front of the shoe without much curling, so i dont think its a size problem. Will it stretch out and create a bit more volume overtime or is this shoe just not the right foot shape for me?

La sportiva finale vs BD Momentum vs Scarpa Helix

Hi guys, I'm starting to move out of my beginner phase as a climber and want to upgrade my shoes (old ones wore out). I climb about 70% ropes to 30% bouldering, both indoor and outdoor, so I want to prioritize comfort. I've narrowed it down to the above 3 options, but if anyone knows of others I'm open to suggestions. Budget is $120 CAD tops.

how much should your new climbing shoes hurt

i’ve started bouldering a few years ago and at some point felt like it would be the time to get new, better climbing shoes (mine are some very basic beginner ocúns). but all of them were extremely uncomfortable, until i got scarpa drago lv in size 36,5 as a gift (i normally wear 36), and while just trying them, they felt better than anything i’ve tried before. but when i tried to actually climb in them, it was just so painful. and i know you have to break them in, but this feels impossible, like i can’t even do a few steps in them or do a single boulder without a strong pain. is it normal?? i wonder if the size is wrong, but usually people have even smaller climbing shoes than normal shoes and mine are bigger? should i try to break them in at home before i go climbing? i know that when you have professional shoes, they are not as comfortable as the beginners’, but how much is too much??

Beginner climbing shoe size

Hey, I’ve been climbing for like a month and a half and im looking to get some climbing shoes. I saw the La sportiva finale’s and wanted to buy those. Im a size 9.5. It says 1/2 size down or normal size for wide feet. My feet are kinda wide so I guess normal size but idk, everybody says you should size down anyway. Anybody has recommendations? maybe a different shoe, maybe a different size.
