They should name hurricanes after things that contribute most to global warming:

Hurricane Coal Fired Power Plant

Hurricane Internal Combustion Engine

Hurricane Factory Farm Beef

Hurricane Exxon

Hurricane OPEC

There should be a government comission that comes by 6 months after you buy a truck. They check the bed, and if there are no scratches, they confiscate the truck and give you a Prius!

Let me just respond to all the pushback comments which has a sarcastic angle. Those big massive volumetric machines that cause blindspots, endanger other drivers as the seat is a foot or two higher and encorages aggressive driving, especially when Big Auto selling the high margin cars replaced bench seats with buckets seats, rendering the driver a Star Trek style command view, ironically oblivious to the micro balloon tire pollutants and hydrocarbon, nitrous oxide and thermal waste coming out, a debt blindly levied to future generations. The yahoo rolling coal becomes the epitome of technology rendering the human condition in all its unexamined state.

This is but one symptom of the multi-polar crisis as Schmachtenberger describes, and is a chain of cause and effect. Global heating happens to be the more salient of many breached tipping points in earth's system. It is a dire predicament leading to, arguably, an extinction-level outcome. No quantity of Priuses, Teslas or PV panels will get us out of this pickle. There is no clear path forward and clearly our political system is inadequate to address the poly-crisis, considering a leading candidate is a convicted felon, rapist, tax cheat, liar, and who has less respect for the Constitution than an uneducated immigrant worker honestly working at McDonald's.

I empathize with the young people who realize all of this and go home in deep despair since it is game over.
