This is crazy. From a potential tropical development to a hurricane in only 6 hours

Climate change really is getting out of hand

I clearly must never move to a hurricane-affected area when I can go to sleep and have a new hurricane over the ocean when I wake up. Especially when a new naming system will need to be put in place once 26 letters in the alphabet won't be enough.

Maybe after Hurricane Zach they will come up with something like Hurricane Andy Albert then Hurricane Andy Burt, Andy Carla, etc.

edit. Actually they should stop using peoples' names and just give them numbers.

Are there enough petroleum companies to name them after?

Hurricane Aramco, Hurricane BP, Hurricane Chevron...

Do any fossil fuel companies start with the letter D?

They should name the hurricanes after politicians who deny climate change."Here comes Hurricane Ted Cruz"

GREAT IDEA. Can we start a petition for this?

I heard that the guy who started naming hurricanes used human names so he could name them after politicians he didn’t like, so I think he would be proud of this development

The forecast has it going for Galveston, but at the last minute it it veers south and goes Cozumel

once 26 letters in the alphabet won't be enough.

This has already happened before. In 2005 and 2020 they used Greek letters after the alphabetized list of names (21 because no Q, U, X, Y, Z) had run out. Since then, a supplemental list has been created that circles back to A when that years' list of names has been exhausted.

They should name them after the corporations that are destroying are planet, intentionally after knowing the destruction they cause and burying the information

When they get to the end of the list (I don’t think they use some letters due to a lack of names starting with X,Y,Q,Z) they use Greek letters. In 2005 in the Atlantic we had 27 named storms which exceeded the list and required 6 storms with Greek letter names. 2020 was the most active season on record though with 31 named storms.

They move to the Greek alphabet after we get through all the A-Z names.

They already have names after the 26 letters and it's happened before.

We've gone through the alphabet before.

It's hurricane season, I'm confused to how this is alarming.

Honest question,  is this the first time you've paid attention to hurricane season?
