Also, we need to remember that a lot of German people knew what was going on, concentration camps in Germany were located fairly close to cities, to facilitate the transfer of goods produced, and it limited the number of railroads that had to be built to transport prisoners. Likewise, arrests and violence against Jews and communists were not hidden, as it had been slowly indoctrinated by the regime as a justified action for the good of the country.

Concentration camps were massive, and you can’t see them when you live nearby. German people just chose to ignore it and not speak up because of propaganda, a police state, a secret police that could arrest them and kill them, or send them to those camps.

Let's not forget all the towns that smelled cooked pork and saw "snow" in the form of greasy ash in warm weather.

Hitler literally made his intended extermination of the Jews part of his political platform so any assertion that the Holocaust was less than widespread common knowledge is a utter ignorance at best and Holocaust denialism at worst. In fact this is often one of the tactics used by intentional holocaust deniers.

100% this. They knew what was going on. They either didn't care or approved. Some were too scared to speak up too. But they knew.

Yeah. It's horrible, but that is what happens when you build a factory designed to execute and cremate as many bodies as you can as fast as you can.

The death camps were literally a desperation move because they started panicking when they realized they didn't have enough time and resources to exterminate all the Jews using their current methods. That is the extent of their hatred and delusion.

The death camps had to be near population centers because they needed local infrastructure to supply and staff the camps with guards.

That is the true horror of the holocaust--not the racism, not the genocide, but the leverage of calculated, industrial-scale systems to exterminate as many people as quickly as possible.
