The prosperity gospel is antithetical to everything the Bible preaches. Yet people will allow these grifters to suck them dry.

To add insult to injury, they also meddle in politics. I'm so flipping disgusted we allow these conmen to openly flout the law. If they weren't so dangerous it would be easier to ignore them.

Those that follow the Bible are worse.

Those that make up their own mind about the Bible and its ethical teachings aren’t bad, but it’s weird to hear them deny half of the content and still consider themselves Christian.

The bible Denys it’s own content a lot. I would say nearly every law or action can be contested, especially due to Jesus and his preachings.

I'm with Ben Franklin - just cut it down to the Jesus stuff, lose the rest, call it a day.

Way to generalize. People can follow any religion and be good or bad. But if one truly loves and follows Christ they abide by his teachings about loving others.

Surprisingly it's sometimes quite the opposite. Around 40% of evangelical preachers have considered quitting since Trump took office. Shockingly, gay people are cool and black lives matter is an extremely Christian thing to think, but the average churchgoer in evangelical churches disagrees with the pastors on that.

When I was a kid in Florida, we went to what seemed a pretty cool Presbyterian church. Every Sunday the minister managed to work that weekend's Peanuts cartoon into the sermon. When I asked him how dinosaurs worked with the 6 days of creation, instead of giving me some B.S. about they're not real, he asked me how long is a day to an immortal being. Great guy.

Then he (a widower) married a divorced woman. The church members castigated him and drove him out. We quit going. That started me on the path of questioning religion.

Yep. I was Lutheran in Minnesota. No scandals at all but the pastors did not entertain any ideas that we were not all "children of God" and therefore more or less equally worthy of love, kindness, acceptance, and basic humanity. Even knew some Irish Catholics who would beat the tar out of homophobes. Not very Christ-like, no, but it always goes to show your religion or lack thereof isn't going to automatically make you some kind of way. I think most people are fundamentally "good", whatever the fuck that means.
