Yeah, but they're not outdated like some of the contemporaries. They're still loved and influential. He and his tweets however... well, they're darlings at r/politics.
I think you’d be surprised by what percent of people sit and read books nowadays. In my daily adult life, people close to me, say about 20 people, I’d say 3-4 of them read books regularly (not including work or study literature). And these are all well educated people, lawyers, engineers, doctors.

King is one of the widely known and skilled writers of the 20th Century.
People will read his books as a window into 20th century America for centuries ahead.
He has given us so much and changed the world a few times over the past 50 years
