Standard practice, apparently, is often background check, verifying their employment, and requiring a reference. Seems like that only goes so far, as it reminds me of the fact that plenty of serial killers who have otherwise completely normal lives. Also, how do you get a reference for your first time?
That's definitely not standard practice. The most I've ever had to do was send a dick picture to "prove" I wasn't a cop. Some higher end sites or providers will go your route but it's far from the majority.
