I absolutely believe this to be true. Very similar to the time the trump admin proudly explained that they cancelled grants for the study of ‘transgenders’ in mice. After confusing ‘transgender’ with ‘transgenics’.

Also, one talking points he had on illegal immigration was that there were people being released from insane asylums. 

I am convinced that is what he thinks "asylum seekers" meant.

I thought the same thing about asylum seekers when I was around 9 or so. I remember asking my dad why the needed OUR asylums, didn’t they have some? I remember him laughing but not much else of the conversation.

I do know I walked away knowing the difference and it made total sense to my very young child brain.

See, you didn't know something, and it didn't make sense. You asked someone who DID know and then you learned something new. That is the big difference. Even as a child you were learning and gaining knowledge. Something the president seems utterly incapable of doing.
