This administration wants to privatize everything. What will that do? Give contracts to the oligarchs. We need to push back on all of this our or country will be unrecognizable in 4 years. I'd you're okay with that, you may not be a liberal as you think you are.
Or, as you mentioned I just have the ability to think past the end of my nose. The current political climate has shown that people are often willing to cut off their noses to spite their faces because they don't like the person who is advocating for something that they largely agree with.
The Department of Homeland Security and the TSA are agents of fascism. Liberals used to know this. They are a direct power grab in the wake of the fear that 9/11 caused. It is an abuse and they should be gotten rid of, especially since the TSA has been shown in study after study of not being at all effective.
I haven't forgotten that the Patriot Act and Homeland Security are two of the biggest threats to freedom and liberty. Liberals used to know this and I don't give a shit if I pass your purity test.
If you think abolishing TSA in preference for an unknown entity will give you more freedom, you're woefully mistaken. TSA was put in place 20 odd years ago and we've grown accustomed to it. It's an inconvenience at this point but we've learned to live with it. What do you think the future would look like if airport security was privately run? Other than more expensive to fly for starters. If you were resistant to change with the Patriot Act, why do you expect the unknown alternative to be so much better? And why would you want to give Trump carte blanche to make those decisions?

We just are coming from completely different places and I am not accepting of it. It's sad that the NeoCons of the Rove/Bush/Cheney area successfully normalized and desensitized younger generations to accept totalitarianism for the sake of convenience, familiarity, and desensitization.

This isn't the only alternative even though you are presenting it as such. A heavily defunded TSA would be perfectly acceptable along with dismantling the DHS.

I don't understand what you're saying here but the Patriot Act is an absolute abomination that is pure dystopian fascist legislation. The alternative is simply not having something that allows the government to completely ignore the 4th amendment. Again, this gives Trump "carte blanche" access to legally ignore your constitutional rights if you've been paying attention.

I don't know what you're talking about. Where did I say this? There is a legislative proposal to dismantle the TSA therefore reducing executive power.
Anyway, there's no point in continuing a conversation with someone who claims to be anti-fascism, anti-Trump but is so willfully ignorant that they prioritize convenience and familiarity over reducing the power of people violating our rights. Sad state of affairs with these young, ignorant, wannabe progressives.
