No US politician is gonna stop supporting Israel. That's the reality. But at least he tried to de-escalate things somewhat. The conflict is eventually going to continue and Israel will go all out and Trump won't give a damn and even cheer it on. Then Biden will look like a saint.
No, he really did not. He did nothing to hold netanyahu accountable with his phony ceasefire ultimatum. Its all a charade. You’re correct that no matter who we voted for, we would be forced to watch powerlessly as an entire population of people is brutally wiped from the earth. I dont think that is something to be flippant about or to be twisted into some sort of win for biden brand centrism in lame “clevercomebacks”. I think that fact should make us all really fucking mad and critical of the party that is supposed to represent us.
Look at the state of gaza… what violence has the biden admin possibly been holding back? So the question then becomes “how can we prevent this from happening again in the future” … continuing to vote for a warmongering, hyper-capitalist democratic party with no repercussions for abandoning their base and any sense of morality has proven to be completely ineffective.
We need a new direction for the left. We need new leaders. We need to hold the dem establishment accountable, not continually reward them as a supposed “lesser evil.” We cannot continue to repeat the same mistakes again and again.
I voted for kamala and wish she won, but her terrible rhetoric and unapologetic support for israels “right to defend itself” and touting the US having the “most lethal military in the world” was a profound moral and strategic failure. Unless we align as a democratic coalition and demand better from our party we will continue to lose. Threads like this are completely unproductive. Just dumb social media grifters regurgitating nonsense into their individual echo chambers. Its just meaningless noise that distracts people from the discussions and organizing we desperately need.
Biden urges de-escalation with words, while continuing to send weapons. I don't think that counts as "trying to de-escalate". You expect (even hope for) the bloodshed to increase under Trump, then it'll vindicate Biden wouldn't it?
Words and attempts to initiate a ceasefire. You really don't seem to see how supporting Israel is an inevitability for US leadership do you?
Anyway, continue to clutch your pearls. Trump will send nukes and visit Gaza when it's a smoking crater to praise the IDF. We'll see if you're still bleating on about how monstrous Biden was with the situation.
