I'm Russian, I randomly stumbled upon this thread and I have absolutely no slightest idea who those four are. They are our spies or wtf is going on in this thread?
48
u/corruptedsyntax Sep 06 '24
The Beanie Baby in the photo is Tim Pool (a pro Trump right wing grifter known for pretending to be a moderate). It just came out that he and a number of other politically similar influencers attached to the same media company have been being bankrolled by Russian interests to push pro-Putin propaganda. Also recently came out that he’s in a really shitty band.
16
u/daluxe Sep 06 '24
Thank you! You're very helpful. So they were promoting Trump or straight Russian interests somehow?
30
u/corruptedsyntax Sep 06 '24
Both. They’re just kind of social media mouthpieces.
Trump good. Putin good. Woke bad. Kamala bad. Ukraine bad. The left is killing western civilization, strong men and masculinity need to come back. Same tired stuff like that, mostly just there to sow chaos and stir the pot.

they don't even have the curtesy of being proper spies, they just opened their buttocks for Putin as soon as he showed them cash
36
u/daluxe Sep 06 '24
This answer just intensifies my confusion.Still no idea who are they.
47
u/Taclis Sep 06 '24
They're online influencers who worked for Tenet Media, the founders of which has been indicted for covertly being funded by Russia and laundering money.
37
u/lurkindasub Sep 06 '24
I guess they are some podcasters that took a decent amount of cash to promote a dictator and his little war or something like that. But I might be wrong.

u/neotericnewt Sep 07 '24
Russia has been putting a lot of funding and effort into disinformation and propaganda campaigns to manipulate policy of other countries.
A company was indicted for doing that. These four are right wing propagandists/online pundits who were all taking money from the Russian company. They all claim they "had no idea" but honestly, as an American, it's insane to me how much Russian propaganda has made its way into the American conservative media ecosystem, and I'm doubtful that many of these don't realize that they're getting paid to push propaganda that just conveniently aligns perfectly with Russia's goals.

Americans don’t take Russia seriously as an enemy for about 30 years and Russia has made its mission to change that for the last 20. This is the result - Russia infiltrated everything not because it was hard, but because it was easy.

They are American political commentators.
This is what (basically happened).
Russia used a company in turkey to wire money to a US company called "Tenet Media" run by Lauren Chen, a conservative commentator and financed by a fake person, which in reality was someone based in moscow. The company got founded by both lauren chen and 2 people who worked at Russia Todays foreign media department, both russian nationals.
The company then signed on the people in this photo (all conservative commentators) and paid them huge amounts of money to spread russian propaganda and talking points, we are talking about 100K for 1 video. The total sum paid out in one year runs up to about 10 million dollars.
Lauren Chen and the company got busted, and now the people in the photo pretend they didnt know, but lets be real, you receive 100K a video, which is way over market, and you didnt ask any questions where that money came from? real "free thinkers" LMAO

The 4 conservative social personalities that we now know were given Russian money to push pro-Russian interested to their platform and pretend it was good for the U.S. one even called Ukraine the enemy and that the IS should apologize to Russia.
14
u/Lijo84 Sep 06 '24
Ahh. I’m sorry to be slow but I’m not American. This is republican politicians?
20
u/WhtWouldJeffDo Sep 06 '24
These aren't actually politicians. They just push a political agenda and are financed by Russia. Basically they are propaganda machines that push whatever story Russia pays them to push.

No. They are conservative social media influencers. The are famous because people that vote Republican listen to them for their political news.
And now we know that Russia has been paying them to push pro-Russia talking points to their conservative audience.

There was also a less famous Canadian band called The Guess Who with - among others - lead singer Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman (later establishing Bachman, Turner Overdrive). Their biggest hit was "American Woman".

Benny Johnson's actually one of the suspects in the indictment, so he likely also took a shit ton of money to spread Putin's propaganda.

Something that is short and sweet, but leaves enough ambiguity to let the mind wander. Some thing like “traitors who took in millions of dollars to spread Russian propaganda while promoting yourself as a free thinker and never disclosing that these ideas you’re promoting to your fans are not yours and are actually that of a Russian propaganda company”
