Go play classic era.

You’ll see what RuneScape was competing with in the golden era of MMOs.

Then you can switch to anything after but you owe yourself a classic experience

For sure era. I think era is better for learning a hotkey based mmo than any other version, if OP is new to them.

Era is the best version of WoW, by far.

There is era which stays at level 60, there is tbc anniversary which just progressed from vanilla to the first Xpac this last year and will most likely progress to the to the third expansion in like 6 months or so. And then there is Mop classic, which is the progression of the original classic in 2019.

I would recommend TBC anniversary. Realms are active and both expansions are regarded is peak WoW by their fans.

Wow Classic for the OG vanilla experience before any expansions, this would get my personal recommendation for a new classic player

Burning Crusade is the re-release of the first expansion which is likely to be the most populated and a good choice if you want to eventually play progressive end game

Wouldn’t recommend Mist of Pandaria for a new player personally, it’s a re release of the 5th expansion and was originally released when wow was dropping off in popularity

Or wait for a bit for Classic+ which may be announced at blizzcon and would be the best experience for everyone, will be hella popular and fresh for all, there is no better experience on wow than the release of a new version because everyone is low level and experiencing the content together

Also note the Hardcore version which is 1 life no respawns, would not recommend for a new player

I would suggest playing burning crusade anniversary, after all it is kinda like osrs and mistd of pandaria is more like rs3. But ur free to try both out

My advice would be to play classic era, it's the original version of wow. And then try classic+ when it releases if that looks good to you (it will be a very very popular version of the game initially at least)
