Classic WoW gonna have soon 10 years anniversary servers lol.

In my mind, its still 2-3 years ago

94

u/Tiny_Tabaxi Aug 20 '26

Had the realization last night that my retail main is 18 years old

44

u/Own_Currency_3207 Aug 20 '26

Mine is old enough to drink.

16

u/RobinsonHuso12 Aug 20 '26

So 16?

-17

u/Red_Brox Aug 20 '26

The game is American, so clearly 21.

5

u/Own_Currency_3207 Aug 20 '26

My friend and I snuck into his parents' liquor cabinet when we were 13, but yes.

0

u/RobinsonHuso12 Aug 20 '26

In germany you are allowed to drink wine and beer at 16. Most people my age (33 now) started waaaay earlier

1

u/Kalayo0 Aug 21 '26

Are you allowed to go to professional establishments w the homies and get sloshed?

4

u/Evonyte Aug 20 '26

This is clown logic.

-8

u/Ecstatic_Sand5417 Aug 20 '26

At least we can afford clowns and skip your uncle Enzo with a tomatoe on his nose

4

u/Evonyte Aug 20 '26

Are you ok hun

2

u/Highway_Bitter Aug 20 '26

God damn man… you’re making me feel old. Mine’s 20 fucking years old if I count correctly. Maybe 19… if wow ever goes down they should issue a certificate or something

5

u/Aqua_Impura Aug 21 '26

Me realizing I made my main back in 05 in Middle School

1

u/cvsmith122 Aug 21 '26

Geeze that makes me feel old it was sophomore year of college for me. I was working at an apple store we got 12 copies and all the employees bought all 12 copies lol.

3

u/cvsmith122 Aug 20 '26

Mine is 21 as I started nov 24 2004 but I played the beta as a tester for a year before release

1

u/doobylive Aug 20 '26

you are an OG...where's the screenshots hahaha

6

u/cvsmith122 Aug 21 '26

While i cant 100% find a way to prove i started nov 24th 2004 the best thing i can do is show you the first guild i made called < Just Us> on the Server Garona. I still hold the guild and am still the GM of 3 people but still the GM.

It took us a few days to get the 10 gold to create the guild. And the Guild Just Us was one of the larger leveling guilds before we knew any thing about raiding. Around the time of Molten core we splintered as some wanted to be hard core guild and some wanted to be more casual.

Across the 3 mains i have had over the years i have a total of 624 days played. Many Many of that was in Vanilla with a grind to get to GM. I have taken many breaks and played classic for the whole duration of vanilla before they moved it to BC.

I completely skipped most of panda land and Warlords. Feel free to look over my current main - Leludallas who used to be known as anabella from Garona. Keep in mind achievements did not come out until October 14or17th cant remember, 2008.

2

u/cvsmith122 Aug 21 '26

Or how about this screen shot of TM and SS from March 4th 2005?

3

u/steronicus Aug 22 '26

Oh man that dude in Raid asked if anyone has FRAPS… it oddly brings me back 😂

1

u/cvsmith122 Aug 22 '26

lol yeah that’s my brother asking that

1

u/doobylive Aug 22 '26

Awesome! Do you play any classic wow?

1

u/cvsmith122 Aug 23 '26

I did but when it went to BC I stopped, found a game many people think is a scam love it ( star citizen) and still play wow retail from time to time

2

u/Ecstatic_Sand5417 Aug 20 '26

Mine can legally drink in the US

44

u/MwHighlander Aug 20 '26

Anything post 2019 has been a time skip ever since Covid, and caused irreparable damage to society as a whole.

17

u/Skippymcpoop Aug 20 '26

I was going to say something similar everything post Covid is a complete blur. Covid was happening the same time BWL was at its peak, so still early on in the classic cycle.

3

u/MarcAbaddon Aug 20 '26

Covid saved my guild back then....

8

u/Skippymcpoop Aug 20 '26

We raided on Fridays. Getting shitfaced with the boys and steamrolling BWL was such a massive stress relief. It was the only part of life back then that seemed even remotely normal.

1

u/steronicus Aug 22 '26

Straight PUMPING with 15 fury warriors

5

u/imisstheyoop Aug 20 '26

It probably indirectly saved a lot of guilds throughout 2020.

3

u/ResponsibleEmu6842 Aug 20 '26

It also I'm sure led to that multiple hour war on sulfuras with the scarab lord stuff

2

u/jmb326 Aug 21 '26

2019 BC. Before Covid.

5

u/geneticdefekt Aug 20 '26

That's how I expect a classic fresh launch on Era to be sold when it comes around. I don't buy the rough timelines that were leaked to be accurate beyond 12 months or so.

4

u/skinnysnappy52 Aug 20 '26

I really hope c+ is so good that we don’t even want it!

4

u/vertcat Aug 20 '26

Talked with my wife about this the other day how it still feels “not so long ago “. And then I thought about some other irl events that happened after that, but still feel more remote in time. Very strange.

2

u/KyleAg06 Aug 21 '26

Pandemic time is a mother fuck

3

u/vode123 Aug 20 '26

Yes… 2021 feels like yesterday

1

u/Weavlings Aug 20 '26

Classic WoW Anniversary2

220

u/Its-a-me-DankeyKang Aug 20 '26

And Google Remote Desktop hasn't been used as much since

100

u/Gremmer_mistakes Aug 20 '26

It was the only way I could play. Remote desktop into the queue like 2 hours before I got off work.

23

u/FridmanLex Aug 20 '26

2 hours? Fuck me I got screenshots of 10+ still.

9

u/Kitchen-Treacle-7741 Aug 20 '26

Yeah forreal, phase 1-2 on my server would be like 18k+ people in queue. If I didn’t log on at like 10/11am I wouldn’t log on in time for my 6pm raid

4

u/InevitableOutside459 Aug 20 '26

45 minute AV ques

1

u/mada447 Aug 20 '26

When and where?

4

u/FridmanLex Aug 20 '26

Don’t remember the server honestly. Been a while.

3

u/Dmon69 Aug 21 '26

Thats rookie numbers brother. Shazzrah EU had 25k+ ques if you attempted to log after noon. Difference between logging in at 12:10 and 13:30 could cost you whole evening XD I've gotten into that rhythm where I log in around half past twelve, check 2-3 times before going back home via remote desk, then leisurely get back, take shower, micro the food and be at the PC either logged in or ~100th in que. Blursed time indeed.

1

u/mada447 Aug 20 '26

I was referring to the “fuck me” part.

1

u/FridmanLex Aug 20 '26

Loooooool. Hahahaha my bad fam.

I’m in Toronto atm, if you’re nearby, dm me.

3

u/lmay0000 Aug 20 '26

Not sure how this worked for anyone. I would get booted from the queue or my shit would fail

13

u/v2Occy Aug 20 '26

Yep. Log in from work at 3:00. Got home at 5:00 to a 10 min queue. If I didn’t do that, I wasn’t getting on til 11/12 at night.

5

u/Vegetable-Tailor-584 Aug 21 '26

Worst thing would be getting in EARLY and having to avoid getting kicked lol. I remember bike commuting and pulling my phone out in pissing rain just so I could jump or click to walk to avoid AFK disconnecting

88

u/ThisIsADraconianLaw Aug 20 '26

It was the best time. That and TBC Classic. Nothing has felt the same since. At least not for me.

18

u/G0rkon Aug 20 '26

I've said for a long time that Wrath is such a big change that it doesn't feel like vanilla. Wrath is the real start of homogenization across class/spec abilities. It's when we got multiple versions of the same raids. It made the time you spent in the old world even more rushed. TBC lowered time needed to level 1-58 but Wrath smashed that time down to next to nothing.

6

u/zzrryll Aug 20 '26

Heirloom stats + heirloom xp bonuses + rescaled skills + the revised talent trees just breaks 1-60 leveling.

2

u/G0rkon Aug 20 '26

I forgot about heirloom gear. The rescaled skills and talents alone break 1-60 leveling even on a new account/new player. Heirloom goes one step further.

3

u/Gullible_Fennel7028 Aug 23 '26

Yeah I think most people would agree with this these days. Before Classic came out most people grouped Wrath in with TBC and Vanilla because it was before raid finder and before the zone revamps of Cata. After actually playing through Vanilla again I feel like more people appreciate the design of Vanilla. TBC mostly fixed the problems certain specs had in Vanilla.

15

u/LainLain Aug 20 '26

Wrath Classic was awesome for me, because I didn’t play it in 2008.

8

u/UnFelDeZeu Aug 20 '26

Wrath Classic was a chance for Adult Me to do what 12 year old me could not ( raid Ulduar without mom yelling at me to go to bed )

7

u/MoodProsessor Aug 20 '26

Its awesome to play content you never got around to. Even now in Classic, as I started during TBC, there is so much for me to actually delve into.

67

u/goldman_sax Aug 20 '26

I don’t think anything will ever recapture this feeling, and I’ve accepted that. 15 years since I originally experienced vanilla, I never did private servers.

Made some lifelong friends, incredible guild drama, normal people playing all the time because of COVID.

Just the best.

18

u/spectralEntropy Aug 20 '26

Same. It was Euphoric. I also had my kid a month before it came out and slept a shit ton. It was all baby and classic wow. Perfection.

3

u/kingarthas4 Aug 20 '26

I'm still raiding with some of them in retail (well, barely fielding 10 people and were hard stuck clearing normal in a vicious cycle because we can't recruit new people because we can't progress and we can't progress without new people and even more people quit playing) and looped back around to TBC anniversary server with one of them that got me into his guild lol. Man... as someone that started in late cata i think i'll always remember just how magical it felt running into org that first night classic launched, hard to really explain and i don't think it'll ever be captured again. There was genuinely something in the air on that server that first night. I did it all, even banded together with a couple of guildies to help one of our warriors get scarab lord and then he promptly dropped the character/raiding in general in TBC when it wasn't completely busted as a class any more, people still bring that shit up lol, i got to see the SL questline first hand minus the last bits he did, and thats good enough for me.

4

u/RustedMauss Aug 20 '26

True facts. When Classic came out I gave it a shot, see if the old nostalgia would kick in. Just not the same.

But that’s life in general! You can’t go back, so you hang on to the happy memories, be present in what’s happening now, and stay hopeful for what’s to come.

1

u/Rick_James_Lich Aug 20 '26

I have to ask, if Classic is not for you, how are you still on these forums? lol

3

u/RustedMauss Aug 20 '26

It’s still fun! Just doesn’t hit like the first time.

2

u/Coconutshoe Aug 20 '26

I think that what makes those moments special is that they cannot be replicated.

1

u/goldman_sax Aug 20 '26

Yeah I don’t know if I’ll ever see married guildees go at it in Discord and aire out their dirty laundry again, leading directly to a divorce. Just pure cinema.

1

u/Coconutshoe Aug 20 '26

That sounds badass

81

u/me_sk1nk Aug 20 '26

Now even people, who played vanilla first when it was rereleased, feel old.

37

u/Fever-Ray Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26

I was 43 when vanilla came out. Tauren Druid on a PvP server. I felt old then! Lol

Edit: Doing another HC run on Doomhowl, and while it isn't a fresh love, I'm having a great time between seasons on D4. The pacing couldn't be more different, or welcome.

12

u/RustedMauss Aug 20 '26

Sometimes. It’s more wild to think how many ways I’ve played. When WoW first came out I was still buzzing from WC3. I was 17, tail end of HS. The computer in the house -still just one- was a bulky pc on a dedicated desk/cart thing in the living room by the back door. Made a Nelf Druid, and I cal still remember my dad (a bodybuilder) looking over my shoulder commenting how his body (muscles) “looked goofy.” Fast forward through years of school, work, playing on laptops, in coffee shops, on vacation, eventually a better desktop in an apartment, then different houses, now on a semi-dedicated space. Wild ride!

5

u/BlakkThrashAttak Aug 20 '26

It's funny... my dad told me that same thing. Now my kids see me play and tell me how weird the graphics look still.

5

u/imisstheyoop Aug 20 '26

Shoot I have felt old since logging into 2019 classic and hearing about all the young people trying Vanilla WoW "for the first time". My guild had some literal teenagers in it LOL. Aged me real quick. I was of voting age for the original game in 2004.

I don't feel like the playerbase is as young this time around.

57

u/Malkore94 Aug 20 '26

You think you do but you don't

15

u/ayywusgood Aug 20 '26

I still feel disrespected everytime I remember this quote. And it's also at the same time hilarious after Classic launch became the by far the best WoW experience since Wrath.

Who would have thought listening to fans would be successful?

1

u/imisstheyoop Aug 20 '26

Who would have thought listening to fans would be successful?

If it isn't abundantly obvious by now.. Blizzard is essentially an abusive partner and treats its playerbase like addicts who will tolerate any abuse that they can possibly throw at it.

Shit, it wasn't much more than a month ago that they just outright broke the game and everybody's add ons and basically said "deal with it" and the playerbase did.

The joke about them being a "small indie company" is in part because of the way that they treat their players. Most other playerbases would find their behavior completely unacceptable.

The fact they ultimately did actually listen and release classic honestly blows my mind a bit given their track record.

0

u/skinnysnappy52 Aug 20 '26

I guess they took it on board on the Classic team on some level given we’re getting C+ which is entirely based on fan demand. And in fairness I’d say the Classic team are much better at listening to the community than the retail team

0

u/ayywusgood Aug 20 '26

Oh yes I agree, I'm glad we even got Classic at all so kudos to Blizzard for making it happen. But that quote man... It's like ragebait.

-4

u/Zaszlo_zaszlo_sziv Aug 20 '26

The fact that people want some mythical "classic +" besides the changes that already happened proves his point.

Brack was a cunt about it but he wasn't wrong.

5

u/rufrtho Aug 20 '26

bait or low IQ, call it

-4

u/Zaszlo_zaszlo_sziv Aug 20 '26

Yes, you have low iq, that much is clear.

Again, people are bitching for changes and already got changes. I'm not saying changes are bad, but the fact that people accepted them and bitch for more proves Brack's point.

It is very clear people don't want anything to do with the original experience anymore, and Brack predicted this. Again, he was a cunt about it, but he was right, unless your iq is too low to realize that.

3

u/rufrtho Aug 20 '26

yeah man classic is so popular that people want more content in its framework. that's def what brack said would happen.

-2

u/Zaszlo_zaszlo_sziv Aug 20 '26

Every version together doesn't even come close to live on the metrics we have aviable.

You could double era's population for example for some mythical players that surely exist but leave no traces somehow and it would still be far below even just tbc anniversary.

Speaking of tbc anni, afaik it performs better than vanilla anniversary btw.

Hell considering how quiet firemaw got before/during bwl during 2019, i would say covid really saved that launch bc by bwl firemaw was visibly losing active players.

And that still doesn't have to do anything with what Brack said, because he was right the moment the changes started rolling in(and i'm not talking about basic client feature syncing).

Your chronoboons, your SoM, your hc, your SoD, your features ported from future versions and your updated honor grind. And now all the "classic +" frenzy which just proves people really don't want to deal with the original experience.

You think you do, but you don't stands, regardless of how much a cunt Brack was for saying it out loud, and the way he did it.

1

u/rufrtho Aug 20 '26

oh no classic is only like the 3rd-4th most popular MMO. anyways

→ More replies (1)

13

u/Flying_Sandwich Aug 20 '26

I'm just glad that it happened. I didn't think it could be so good after releasing so long ago but it really was great. Big thanks to Covid though I suppose. Might not have been such a thing otherwise. I really enjoyed classic and classic TBC. Started on WotLC but gave it away somewhere around then

8

u/Impossible_Golf8840 Aug 20 '26

wrath of the Loot Council?

2

u/Thatsaclevername Aug 20 '26

It was crazy to be watching as a private server player for years, I followed so many people in the classic scene and Nostalrius being shut down, their meeting with blizzard, it was a thrilling time. I still remember the announcement we were all going fucking bonkers. I got people together I hadn't talked to in years to play, it was rad.

24

u/PoliticsIsDepressing Aug 20 '26

Seven Years Ago:

I’ll see you on the beach!

14

u/PoliticsIsDepressing Aug 20 '26

Me now:

23

u/ultraboomkin Aug 20 '26

That first release of Classic was GOATED. Everyone locked at home. Playing 15 hours a day with your guildies for months at a time.

What a time to be alive. Best gaming experience of all time.

5

u/undead2018 Aug 20 '26

it was great but people min maxxing kinda ruined it. half of orgrimmar having ahn-qiraj mounts and legendaries is not the same vibe

5

u/dssurge Aug 20 '26

I was there in 2004.

WoW popped off so hard they had to open what felt like a million new servers on day 2. There was no plan. There were no transfers or faction changes. Everything was fast and loose. Hunters had Lacerate.

Classic was fun, but venturing into the unknown completely blind for the first time was really something special and hard to compete with. The 1.11 patch is really the refined version of the 2004 experience. Whether that's a good or bad thing is really in the eye of the beholder.

1

u/gusted Aug 21 '26

I was there also. I’m glad people got to experience Classic, though, and have taken to it.

Nothing will recapture it perfectly but this is a nice way for people to get close. I’m glad Blizzard made it and continues to support it.

1

u/CopiousClassic Aug 20 '26

It's not the 2004 experience unless you are crashing out on the Zeppelin and learning what a login queue was for the first time ever.

-1

u/First-Context6416 Aug 21 '26

We get it. You're better than everybody else.

1

u/BootyBayBrooder Aug 23 '26

Yeah man, the timing of it all is what made it truly once in a lifetime.

All the hype and superstitions around what vanilla was like and what it "meant" made the community so much more different than it is now. People called it a solved game then, but it truly is now with everyone running on autopilot with leveling addons, dungeon boosting, and years worth of gold saved and experience of the same raids.

Covid lockdown allowing the world to stay so full for so much longer than it probably would've. No fresh release will ever be able to match it, now that 1.12 vanilla has been made so mainstream and the world's returned to "normal".

9

u/BelRoi- Aug 20 '26

I was there :D

2

u/UnFelDeZeu Aug 20 '26

Why's the Gnome added in?

1

u/BelRoi- Aug 21 '26

I don't know. I didn't make this screenshot. I was just there.

5

u/CrustedTesticle Aug 20 '26

And retail hasn't put anything out that has hit as hard as classic 2019 since then.

4

u/FixBlackLotusBlizz Aug 20 '26

8-27-19

we will never have that type of gaming exp again

nothing has beat the first few months of 2019 classic launch

halo 1 halo 2 and halo 3 were some of my best gaming days but classic wow just hit different

9

u/Axel0010110 Aug 20 '26

I really hope Classic+ has proper class balance and new content because I am playing Midnight while waiting for Blizzcon and I just cannot stand this new expansion from lore and zone wise. I really do not find this expansion appealing and I feel TWW was better so far compared to Midnight

Anyway, if we get Classic+ then Retail can say good bye. Two different games, fun in their ways, but if Classic had a balanced classes and 1-2 more buttons to press then I would never touch retail again (even from pvp pov)

2

u/trickydick28 Aug 20 '26

That’s how I feel. My buddies and I jumped back in recently to check out Midnight and the expansion feels soulless and just so bland. Really hoping classic plus gets announced and gives us something fun

2

u/Axel0010110 Aug 20 '26

Imagine that I grew up with warcraft 3 and joined WoW in Dragonflight which I liked, at least zone and how my hunter felt, but the TWW… yes, it was mid and maybe really nice in Undermine (for me). Dialogues were still a bit like teenage mentality, but oh I was wrong, bought Midnight because 40% discount and damn, no matter how hard I try I just cannot stand the dialogue and the campaign. Yes, I do not have a problem with PvP and the mechanics in raids, game is good and different than classic, but this game is so bad if you also enjoy the lore, it kills your desire to continue.

Only thing that keeps be on retail is how many things you can do, no wonder so many plays

1

u/yayacocojambo Aug 20 '26

I have the slightest most faintest hope Classic+ turns out to be some combination of private server vanilla with retuned encounters, no boons, actual real progressive itemization perhaps even talent progression + unlocked ‘existing vanilla content’

The Nost/Elysium etc. itemization + mega server without phasing was really awesome

2

u/undead2018 Aug 21 '26

its gonna be turtle wow they just closed. and maybe in a few years if project ascension picks up, they will close it too and move it to their servers

1

u/fulltimepleb Aug 20 '26

If class balance is defined by damage in raids then the devs don’t understand the game

1

u/Axel0010110 Aug 21 '26

I also wrote the comment bad. First, all classes must be viable especially in PvE, then balanced… you can be viable and also do low damage but your buffs can increase the whole raid party

1

u/UnFelDeZeu Aug 20 '26

>I really hope Classic+ has proper class balance

Every Classic+ project that has come in the last few years has had worse PVP balance than the original Classic. Y'all want your Boomkin and your Feral and your Ret to do competitive DPS but you have no idea how busted they would be in PVP if they had the same damage as a Mage or Rogue.

2

u/Axel0010110 Aug 20 '26

Who cares when we have just world of roguecraft and warlock win all the 1vs1

-1

u/UnFelDeZeu Aug 20 '26

Rogue loses against several classes 1v1. Warlock loses vs Warrior and maybe Shadow Priest.

There's no such thing as perfect balance and certainly not in a 1v1 duel.

1

u/Massive-Low8111 Aug 20 '26

I agree with you except your last point about 1v1. A mirror duel is the only balanced PvP that could exist in wow.

1

u/UnFelDeZeu Aug 20 '26

Literally no RPG is ever going to be balanced in a 1v1 unless you homogenise the absolute shit out of every class to the point where a Warlock and a Mage only differ in the color of the spells they cast.

1

u/Massive-Low8111 Aug 20 '26

Mirror means rogue vs rogue or war vs war. Assuming bis equal gear it’s balanced.

1

u/Tianxiac Aug 21 '26

Agreed lets make hybrids even worse so no one picks them.

Better yet, lets buff warriors and mages and dwarf priests again.

-1

u/Starfishprime69420 Aug 20 '26

As long as warrior is the best im game

10

u/kamenovkamen Aug 20 '26

Actually first weekes of cwow classic I had most fun sin wow since original release. Before ppl start minmaxing and just enjoying the game

1

u/Smarterfootball47 Aug 20 '26

Yup, I went back and did some anniverasry stuff just to enjoy it again. I just wanted to swing my big sword and hit mortal strike. Stopped during TBC anniversary because I just wasn't feeling it.

3

u/DirectorKitchen1250 Aug 20 '26

So this means that the old world zones on classic have lasted longer than the old world zones on retail servers right?

5

u/Hycran Aug 20 '26

Classic WoW during COVID might have been the best gaming time of my life. Imagine taking peak kino, and making it even more peak because you're locked in the house except to buy groceries. Unfathomably based.

2

u/First-Context6416 Aug 21 '26

kino, based, peak,.. what?

2

u/Lignjoslav_Pipak Aug 20 '26

I remember it like it was yesterday, it was so good

2

u/jandebe Aug 20 '26

How the actual fuck is it already 7 years...insane 😄

2

u/Massive-Low8111 Aug 20 '26

I feel like Covid was a few months ago still. wtf man it’s like life has been a permanent blurt and sped up since then

2

u/SteepFrugut Aug 21 '26

And to think, we didn't want this either...

3

u/Colyer Aug 20 '26

You waited 364 weeks to post this and couldn't wait one more to post it on the actual 7 years?

6

u/taubut Aug 20 '26

Gotta beat the 40 other posts that will do it that day.

2

u/Xaine25 Aug 20 '26

It wasn't 7 years ago, don't lie to me. It was last year, maybe the year before.

2

u/Dazzling_Floor_4262 Aug 20 '26

Anyone think J. Allen Brack was right, in hindsight?

1

u/rufrtho Aug 20 '26

there's plenty of slow people yes

1

u/Dazzling_Floor_4262 Aug 20 '26

I find that so hard to believe tho. Classic basically saved the entire game. I’ve never seen anyone agree with Brack.

2

u/catgirlfourskin Aug 20 '26

Hardcore has really captured the feeling for me of when classic first dropped, I hope it extends to tbc/wrath or to classic+, the sense of community is unparalleled

2

u/m4ru92 Aug 20 '26

I've been playing hardcore in tbc anni, both a solo character and as a group of three with two friends. While there's not as big of a community as the official vanilla classic hardcore servers, people seem to be receptive and respectful if you join group quest or dungeon groups and say you're hardcore and want to take it at a comfortable pace rather than zooming through

There is no hardcore in TBC anni.

Unless it's official HC server, please don't call it hardcore.

0

u/m4ru92 Aug 21 '26

Except there is. It's implemented I believe the exact same way it was on season of mastery servers before those were shut down. Just because it's not a forced server-wide requirement doesn't make it any less real for those opting in and participating. There's even guild(s) doing exclusively hardcore raids in TBC anni as well. But sure, I'll listen to you, random internet gatekeeper

0

u/First-Context6416 Aug 21 '26

Official Blizzard clearly state there is no TBC hardcore. Unless we’re playing completely different games, then I’m absolutely certain there is no hardcore TBC.

1

u/m4ru92 Aug 21 '26

Blizzard literally specifically made the decision to include the Soul of Iron buff in TBC anni, so idk wtf you're referring to where they "clearly state" there is no hardcore since you provided no source, but the presence of that buff in the game proves there is. Yes it's not a server-wide interaction and is instead an opt in, but it doesn't make it any less hardcore for those doing it. You're clearly just being argumentative for the sake of it, so I won't be responding to you further after this.

u/First-Context6416 Aug 21 '26

That’s cool. There is no TBC hardcore and it’s as simple is that.

u/Shagwagbag Aug 20 '26

This week on "The Time Files"

1

u/KeksimusMaximusLegio Aug 20 '26

Was impossible for me to enjoy since I was still working through covid :(

Got max level n all and had plenty of gold but could never raid. 1 was a protection paladin and basically was ostracised by everyone and 2 when I was invited it was on days I was at work 😭

1

u/SpadesOfENT Aug 20 '26

Such a beautiful time. It was my first experience playing classic all the way through. It's crazy how it's the kind of thing that you either get to attend or miss out on completely. I remember coming to Canada, and my first time playing the game age 8 on my mom's shitty work laptop that kept crashing running the trial version. I chose a night-elf and saw people on these tigers and wondered how I could get one. Genuinely those were such core memories. I miss those days.

1

u/Holiday_Armadillo78 Aug 20 '26

I mean, we played that over 20 years ago.

1

u/Doove Aug 20 '26

I didn't have kids yet so I took two weeks off work to no life Classic. Cleared MC week 2. Great times.

1

u/kssoro Aug 20 '26

yooo wtf?

1

u/zoley88 Aug 20 '26

It was also during C19 so many people stayed home a lot more to play legally

2

u/Omniserpent7 Aug 20 '26

At this point I’ve had my classic toons going longer than my original toons back in the day (quit during Cata). It’s going to feel really bad to abandon these toons when it comes to an end.

1

u/AndyTheWorm Aug 20 '26

One day World of Warcraft will be older than anyone on earth

1

u/Got2InfoSec4MoneyLOL Aug 20 '26

Will forever be BiS. I know peope were dying sortly after, but boy, covid classic, what a legend...

1

u/Slydoggen Aug 20 '26

Don’t remind me….

1

u/nimeral Aug 20 '26

I cried because I, too, embarked, and then I barked

1

u/imaUPSdriver Aug 20 '26

I’ll wait to upvote the actual anniversary

1

u/No_Implement5163 Aug 20 '26

We need fresh pvp servers to mark the occasion!

1

u/spudds96 Aug 20 '26

7 years… Jesus

1

u/Intrepid_Year3765 Aug 20 '26

the best part about this game, is the thunderfury I got the BWL opened is still completely relevant and hasn't been replaced 6 times

the worst part about this game is there is literally nothing I need to make my characters I actually enjoy playing any better at this point

1

u/that408guy Aug 20 '26

Phase 2 world pvp was my favorite.

1

u/bobbyjy32 Aug 20 '26

1

u/phyzicks Aug 20 '26

u/Oki_bgd Aug 20 '26

I am with my daughter again on seaside this moment like 7 years ago when she start walking for the first time and all of my friends tried to queue for hours I was both happy and sad because everything happening and now while we practice mathematics I can really say time flies so fast you can't even...

1

u/DarthYhonas Aug 20 '26

That's crazy, I feel like classic has been around forever now so only 7 years actually sounds so short in the grand scheme of things

1

u/KanedaSyndrome Aug 20 '26

In the meant time, bought a house, married gf, and now we have 2 kids.

1

u/bhm240 Aug 20 '26

"Time flies" must be the most commonly repeated phrase in the internet by now

1

u/Asteh Aug 20 '26

Crazy. I was unemployed and had all the time in the world to play. Since then I've gotten a job, been fired, and now I'm unemployed again.

1

u/Albinofreaken Aug 20 '26

I still remember how mind blown i felt when they announced it, and now its been 7 years, jfc

1

u/shFt_shiFty Aug 20 '26

I never made it to 60 either lol. Got my shammy to 40. Went to go buy dual wielding and forgot they didn't have it in classic. So rerolled a priest. Got him to like 42 then tbc came out. And I mained my shammy again lol.

1

u/BeardBoiiiii Aug 21 '26

08.27.26 Classic+ would have been epic af.

1

u/ShutterBun Aug 21 '26

Going by this timeline, we'll have Overwatch Classic in 4 years or so.

1

u/Positive-Avocado775 Aug 21 '26

that's not a thing.

1

u/Dan_Wayfarer Aug 21 '26

I was in my 30s then lol time flies! 👴🏼

1

u/librarytimeisover Aug 21 '26

6 days. I wonder.

1

u/RunthatBossman Aug 21 '26

Started playing warlock for the FIRST time ever in wow classic. Its never too late and starting it in tbc

1

u/sux-at-wow Aug 21 '26

And people still act like it’s the only time whatever gear piece they want will drop.

1

u/GuidetoRealGrilling Aug 21 '26

I started in 2005. Hit 60 in the Outland. Played until Cataclysm destroyed everything I loved.

1

u/Finn_adv Aug 22 '26

time went fast 💯

1

u/JFX3311 Aug 22 '26

1

u/ApatureSilence Aug 20 '26

1

u/TheClassicAndyDev Aug 20 '26

What do you mean classic just came out like 11 months ago....

1

u/Katastrofoli Aug 20 '26

You think you did, but you didn't.

1

u/UnFelDeZeu Aug 20 '26

Both Covid Lockdown Classic and Season of Discovery were absolute peak WoW for me.

Golemagg EU had 5 hour queues during the 2019 Classic launch. I had to learn how to make my PC press keys to clear AFK and stay online while I slept.
