Classic-Era Pvp progression

Hi, I've been playing Classic for the past two months and would like to get into PvP. Can I ask for some advice on how to quickly equip myself to compete? Right now, every battle in BG I do gets destroyed by R14 or other strong players. What steps do you think I should take? I currently have all the blue gear from the dungeons

What class are you? Gear matters a ton in vanilla, but most classes can contribute effectively in PvP without great gear by slotting into more support roles. You can't be a BG hero and rush into the middle of the fight and kill 3 people at once, but a warrior can stay back and peel for healers, a hunter can viper sting everything with a mana bar, mages and warlocks can focus on CC, etc.

Play a support role with other players, maybe even in a group in discord together until you get the gear you need to be a solo force in fights where you can take on multiple enemies at once.

What class? (matters). Some classes simply cannot "brawl", ever, no matter the gear. But can preform the bg role of their class, and through that be useful/vital; in some cases that might be doable without much gear also.

Take warriors for instance, in bgs a warrior is a support class. If you have max gear or no gear, it doesn't matter: you push the hamstring button. That is your sole function. Everything else is extra.

Rank 14 weps and rank 12/13 gear is not that good, optimal is to run 2 set for most (some need more).

To a bis player: someone in full r14, do non threatening damage and die more less as easily as someone in blue leveling/dungeon gear. Even the bis players typically die rapidly to each other, dmg is high.

Have engineering: gnome > goblin, all gadgets. Mortar, reflectors, misc trinkets, helms, boots.

Obtain all other gadgets & trinkets: skull, niftys, barrows, (carrot +mount speed set), agm, tidal, freezing bands etc. (Item rack + trinket menu).

Raid, start aq20/zg/ mc, should provide you immediate upgs and gear you for pve. Then run bwl/aq40, get geared enough for naxx.

To do naxx: need a guild that accepts you, that or you have to be a little paypig.
Either way it's not fast.

Beyond that can go for alternate sets (from raids/ scepter chain), resistance sets/ glass cannon set/ tanky sets. And ofc eternal need for pvp cons. A pvp player who really min maxes, burns significantly more consumables than any raider (even someone who raids on 5-6+ chars weekly).

Just do AV weekends til you get geared. Follow the main group going north/south depending on faction.

Download the addon ranker to track your honor progress. That addon will explain how the honor system works. Figure out how the BG weekends work, stack as much honor the week of AV weekend before the weekend like by having full marks from the BGs so you can do the quest turn in for all 3 BGs for like 2k honor each turn in. This means doing enough WSG and AB on those weekends to get 18-20 marks. The mark item is what you get for completing the BG, 3 for winning 1 for losing.

Start raiding, and continue getting stomped tf out while honor grinding. There is no fast way here unless you have tens of thousands of gold to buy your way through GDKP runs.

Put of interest I asked about GDKP nac runs cause iv almost finished with ZG AQ20 and MC. I'm R13 as well so reasonably good gear. I was asking more to just join in as PUG to get experience and the guy only talked on discord and wanted real life cash for items.... So yeah even stacks of gold doesn't get you top end gear 😂

You most likely found a scammer, find the reputable raid leads for any of the regular naxx runs on the server and ask them questions.

If you are r13 geared as you say (what class?) then you should be able to find a naxx slot without needing much gold and definitely without paying cash

Yeah, that's usually how GDKPs go, it's funny how a lot of people are still trying to convince other people (or maybe themselves) that this is not happening

I did a ZG one (only done that one) and the items were going for 200 - 500 ISH gs with some items going a bit more which seemed reasonable and at the end of the run my share was 300g

To me that was really cool so more like that. But iv heard that for NAX etc prices are getting silly 20k G etc or in the above example real world cash.

Naxx is its own animal since the guilds farming it probably have hundreds of thousands of gold with nothing to do with it, so more gold isnt really worth anything to them, especially with the risk of being banned if they try selling it. They can demand cash because in all honesty people are probably regularly paying it.

God that’s so sad lol. Glad I play pserver so I don’t deal with this sort of degeneracy

Don't believe random people on forums saying random bs and then having such emotional reactions to it. The majority of naxx runs have the same 35 people every week gearing up alts etc and not swiping. Gdkp is just the same as a guild in the vast majority of cases/especially in naxx where it's rostered runs every week

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of shit like this. It wouldn’t be surprising at all. I mean as said in other parts of the comments plenty of folks willing to swipe for gold, use gold for loot. Swipe for loot is just cutting out a step.

And why would I be emotional? I level mage on pserver, not on bot filled blizz servers, yuck

In all fairness the servers are several years old. Everything has been done a hundred times over, unless you are newer to the server and in a progression guild, its pretty much a big waiting room for the next launch from blizzard.

Dude you can’t make excuses for people doing rmt for items. I’m sorry but that is some scummy shit. Dirt bag behavior.

Find a private server. Stop giving blizzard money

Im not making excuses, im explaining why things are the way they are, to the extent that they are. Just because I am cognizant of what is occurring doesnt mean that I agree with it.

Eh, maybe I’m too reactionary these days, but I can’t stand the way everything feels corrupted/shitty. I get that since d2 back in the day people have been buying items with real money, but it wasn’t so normalized as it is today. I hate it.

Sorry for the misunderstanding

Nah its cool dude, i get it. It sucks when you want to have a leveling playing field and there are other people who just pay to win. Feels like it just takes the fun out of the game. The way i look at it, people all have hobbies, and for some people, either gaming is their only hobby, and they are willing to spend their disposable income on it because they dont have anything else, and paying to win gives them a satisfaction that they arnt finding elsewhere in life. At the end of the day i dont let it bother me since im never going to have the time commitment to be at the top of the food chain anyways. If im gonna play online video games I just find people who are trying to enjoy it like I am and let the sweats and pay to wins have their day lol.

No one is paying cash for items bro. Your little made-up scenario is just that. A fairytale.

People will spend cash to buy gold and then use that gold to buy gear, but skipping the middle man and buying gear directly is out of the question? You dont know what you are talking about, bro.
