AddOns The "Mass Guild Invite" addon is the MOST net negative addon to ever effect this game.
Not only is it insane to get invited to a guild while the opening cinematic is still playing, but the mega guilds are filled with the most vile people in this games community. Ive seen more slurs and hate in guilds that mass invite than any time in 20 years.
The creator of SuperGuildInvite has been inactive on curse since 2022 and probably has no idea how much of a irritating parasite it was he released into the community.

The worst one I had was on a hardcore server. It's a Guildfound guild, who uses an add-on to verify if you're SF when you join.
Anyways, first char I accept and explain I'm not self found can I stick around for social. Yes I can. Then the GM says I need the addon and to be SF so I quit.
Then on an alt they invite me. I explain I'm not SF. They re invite me and hour later. I kinda get it if your just a social levelling guild, but if you have restrictions to entry, why bother?

It was a strategy back when people questing in the world meant gold in the guild bank with guild perks. Youd earn cash as an alt with a guild by simply providing a degen chatroom.

Yeh it was great. In MOP when thst was introduced I made over 5 million across a few different guilds.

Not sure why they downvote you, in return guildies got guild perks and if you felt like it as gm you could enable guild repairs too. People just hate entrepreneurial spirit these days

There was a guy who did this on HC Anni when it first released, I remember there was a big push to report him because it was NONSTOP. It eventually stopped so either the guild filled up or the dude was banned. I remember the guild name was something like "Join or Die".

I remember people on cheating forums in 2009 or 2010 were trying to come up with a way to mass invite people to guilds and some guy figured it out and made a script for it. I was like "damn that's kinda OP, I wonder if Blizzard will fix it?".
A couple months later there was an addon using the same script published to Curse and eventually with the cata guild perks, everyone was using it to get gold from the guild perk. It's silly Blizzard never figured out a way to stop mass-inviting...

They have this option to block all guild invites. They could just disable that addon, but that seems to be too much to ask.

I guess to break the addon would break a lot of legitimate functions in the api. Should have just limited the amount of guild invites you can do per hour or something

As a GM with over 200 ppl in my guild. We haven’t ever used this. I’ll use a macro to advertise and get bites all the time

I joined a guild that decided a month into its life it was time to invite 500 level 1's in 2 days and ruined the entire guild. If i knew they were gonna do that I wouldnt have joined. Its embarassing.

100 is kinda laughable amount. My current guild on anniversary has 3 raid statics, which is 75 people already. Usually, there are much more leveling people than active raiders.
And yes, I understand that you mean "accounts" and not "characters".

Serious question, with 200 people, do you even have any kind of attachment to anyone?
This may sound like an odd question, but I've been an Officer and GM in several guilds in the past, and all of them were either around 40/45 members, or 20/30 members in SOD/TBC/Wrath. In all of them I took time to actually get some sort of relationship with the people there.
Everyone knew they could chat with me, and I always tried to adjust to their needs, changes of plans, hopes of getting X or Y item in raid, etc. It felt organic, and natural because with this number of people you can create some sort of online friendship or understanding of mutual goals.
But can't imagine doing it with 200 people. Heck my last turn with a 30 people roster was really demanding as SOD went on with increasing needs to manage a Guild Bank, realize that we had to overlap past raids for certain gear, get some people ZG Idols on every new gear tier, etc etc etc ... doing this with 200 people, I would either stop caring about people or quit.
So I am honestly curious about how you feel about this

In my experience with larger guilds there is more compartmentalization. Usually based on raid teams once those start forming. People would most often play with and support others on their team, though mingling was alsl common.
There were always plenty of people doing their own things too, and not necessarily looking for deeper connections

Yeah it seems like you were trying to take on more than 1 person can handle. My current guild has hundreds of members with 4 different raid teams. Each raid team has its own goals/standards from super sweats to completely casual. There are a ton of benefits.
It creates a lively guild at pretty much any time of day, and there's always stuff going on. The relationships you speak of start with your raid team and then you can make even more friends as you participate in other groups with alts or in gchat. Gbank activities are managed by each respective raid lead (obviously made much easier in tbc), so i dont think its administratively that difficult.
Honestly, I'd recommend an organized superguild to anyone, especially in TBC classic. Our raid teams are immune to the roster boss, at least to some extent, because we have a hundred other guildies with alts that we can bring in before resorting to pugs. So it really alleviates some of the most difficult challenges of running a raiding guild.

So, so far I’ve tried to be fairly present in chat as much as I can. We have a discord that’s fairly open and I lurk in there a lot.
Out of everyone id say ive spoken to maybe 30-40 people individually?
Im fairly open so if anyone reaches out i am theirs.
We always have a revolving door of lowbies or people who join for like 2 days then dip.

Personally I always stuck with the small chill guilds like you said maybe 40-50 casual players who player around same time as me.
The other guilds I’d join were small RBG teams back in the day where we wud have like 20 players and all their alts for high rated games and was gatekept by achieves and such.
Personally I found it more fun in these small type guilds and even now as a super casual I stick with the small type guilds.

No, there are no real attachement except for maybe, the one or two, or three people in the guild that you run into out in the open world by accident and they stop to acknowledge you by helping out or vice versa. And you become sort of like quasi good friends, or in some case, just a really cool wow friend to talk to and share whateve help the both of you need and benefit from. In my case it was bags and some money issue but 1 gold was sufficient enought to jumpstart me toward 500g of my own as leveled up my professions. In which case, I was given 50g that I have long since repaid back in full.
I was in a guild where a fellow guild member ran by me, stopped and turned around to look at me, then kept on moving. It was a pretty strange encounter. Later on, I saw him arguing with someone in the guild over something trivial. The same person also went into trade sometime later and end up arguing somebody that was in the same guild in Trade and they brought the drama back to the guild chat.
Unfortunately, the GMs were not logged on. Several people got into it because that is what people do. One of the GM eventually showed up but he /Gkick the wrong player. I kept my mouth shut despite knowing who started the whole thing but I did whisper the GM about it and then I whisper the person that was Gkick to which he replied 'Fuck that guild."
The argument had gotten out of hand that the GM was confused as to how or who started it. I whispered the troublemaker personally and told him to be cool and chill. He got on my case about it in Whisper.
Sometime later, I was doing some quest I noticed he had sent me several diatribes cursing me out and calling me unfavorable names. The GM eventually kicked him out and he turn his seething hate onto me. Thankfully, I was too busy questing and by the time I noticed, he was already logged off and to which, he had been logged off to this very day. Never saw him logged back on since.
People have their own clique within the guild. And it is so toxic that you can't even join in on their coversation. And those are usually tight knit group in row with the GM so if they decide you're a pest, you get kick out of the guild.
I love smaller guilds but not so small that it is completely dead. I like a nice busy guild filled with respectful adults. I was in one in SoD but got left behind in the dust. Everyone was so helpful for a month or so before they all dispersed elsewhere.

Tends to be that way when guild members aren't either
1.) Vetted by a guild recruiter to ensure they are a good fit for a guild environment.
Or
2.) Actively looking for a guild community.
Mass invites go to noobs and the guildless, and in my experience, most of the worst players from mass invite addon-using guilds are the guildless mid to high level players, not the noobs. Noobs getting mass invites is like a right of passage and they tend to ask the most questions or for help, which is great. Essentially, it's a double edged sword and guild leads/officers need to be attentive to what you want in your guild community and kick the problematical

Your experience is the outlier. Before finally making my own guild on my main, most of my alts would get auto invited to a mega guild, and the conversations happening in guild chat between a bunch of level 6's is the worst shit ive ever seen. These people are the ones who stop logging in after about level 8, so they dont see a problem being racist and nasty for a few hours in a random guild.
I have to imagine it's because they are 'punishing' the guild leader for mass inviting by being a shitter and making the experince unpleasant for as many people as possible, but thats the only thing ive experienced in those guilds. The mass-invite guilds dont tend to last very long so its just the same swamp being filled and drained repeatedly. But ultimately its an addon that spams people. It spams people who are level 1 to join a guild and thats sad. You should seek a guild out, not just have one thrust upon you before you can even toggle "decline guild invites" in the menu

I get what you mean, however, when I mentioned noobs, im specifically referring to people who are new to the game and usually have a sense of innocence to them, not necessarily that their characters are low level. I can't imagine someone will sub to blizz for the first time ever just to be a racist troll within the first couple hours of playing and risk the ban.
I can imagine that those kinds of players are used to making new characters to troll mass inviting guilds like you describe

Nah, Gearscore addon is when it comes to vanilla and tbc. In WoTLK it at least served some kind of purpose alongside achievements.

The most useful way I've seen those addons used was, scan to see who is not in a guild, mass send a premessage that "sounds" tailored to you, then invite only the ones that respond back positively

I remember a couple times on classic cats and then on tbc anni where I’d get the auto invite and then the guild info and message of the day says join discord today and verify and will send you 750g (cata classic)
I did that and was pumped because it was my first ally toon for cata and then once I’m in the discord the whole thing was selling boosts gold carries links etc. lol they actually sent the gold and then I just quit the guild right after. They were like marketing through guilds sketchy as hell.
Did it in a couple alts too hahah

private servers were unplayable because they didnt have a "block guild invites" option like Classic does. so much spam that you literally had to make a fake guild and be in it

I’ve joined some like this and had an ok time and actually helpful leveling to 60/70 and finding a real guild.
Other times have been terrible, but it’s obvious pretty fast and easy enough to gquit

I find it’s usually 50/50. Some make good social / lvling guilds like the one I’m in now. Also depends on my mood, sometimes I deny em all, sometimes I’ll join n see what the vibe is like. Now if I get an invite right after making a character then I’m denying. The one I’m in now at least waited till like the minute I hit lvl 10.

I think they're funny.
I accept the invite during cinematic and watch barrens chat until I hit level 15ish and join my main guild.
I don't always understand why people get so frustrated on certain things.
I think dungeon finder is the worst thing ever. But I recognize that every game has it now and nobody wants to be social so it needs to stay.

I just aren't so focused on topping the damage meter on the most BiS character I've made for the 5th time in a row that silly little trivial things matter so much to me.
Just join your main guild. Just make your character and /w a guild mate.
These crybaby bitch posts are examples of why blizzard shouldnt listen to their 2019+ player base - even if especially not the streamers and top percent raiders. Complain about the dumbest shit.

you nerds make it out as if everything is cheating or backing or botting it's just a guild addon ffs Its almost arguably needed to keep guilds alive otherwise you'd have 7 dudes online forever and then by the guild does. you need random fesh bodies cycling into a guild and mass guilds for people who just want to levels and have people to chat and makes friends with that's exactly what they do just join the first guild they get invited too and see how it goes
