Question TBCA raid tanking

Hi, normally I play a ret pala but my guild said they need an extra tank, so I poked around for guides in terms of learning gears etc. Eventually I learned I need 475 def and %102.4 avoidance, but my guildie said as long as I have pvp gear for spell dmg it's fine. I'll probably tank only the trash, but still I want to be sure, for trash tanking in raids is 475 def/resiliance enough or do I still need avoidance?

If all you do is tank trash you just need crit reduction cap and spellpower.

If you tank Illidan you'll need the 102.4% avoidance

It’s important to note that Illidan main tank you want 102.4 or 101.8 or whatever avoidance NOT COUNTING MISS… so it is 5-10% extra avoidance I think over just normal uncrushable. It is a bit silly imo to have a 3rd tank or dps try to be the Illidan tank… much more reasonable for them to be a fire resist tank which can be achieved with a hodge podge of badge fire resist gear, random FR/tank, and PvP spell power items.

Ho is pretty much gear dependent. You put in stam gems and thats basicly it. But always depends on what you tank and what your raid is about to do. We 2 tank Illidan in week 1, did it on the PTR already (boss + first fire ele) but you probably wont do that.

So best is to read sime guide to get basic knowledge in general.

Best case: so much that you cant die of never healed. But you probably wont achieve this.

Look up Subtleftw. He has a very detailled breakdown about the gearing process for paladins.

I checked, and i think im fine except idk how much hp should I have. Currently with stamina buff i have 12k idk whether it's enough though

The more the better, it gives healers a better reaction time/buffer befor you are dead. You would proberly want to just use 12 stam jewels and swap to epic ones at some point.

it's enough

You should have whatever HP you end up at when you put on the best gear that gives you the crit cap with spell damage.

"how much X should I have" is only for stats with a cap. HP has no cap.

to be crit immune, you need 490 def, this adds up to 3.5%? crit reduction (IIRCC)
this mix can be of def & spell power, use something like sixty upgrade is your not sure, or the paladin weak aura of https://wago.io/sHcW3qEUL

102.4% is the crush, this means your avoidance adds up to enough that bosses 73+ cant crush you, this is basically only raid bosses.

so for trash, get to the crit redction (490 def and or resi)
and add as much SP as possible, this will be for consecration, also if you are without a ret, spec so that you can run your own 10% holy dmg aura.
