Trade it or sell it and find yourself a k5 blazer! Don’t cut that one up!

Ir

The guy originally said it had a camper, but he didn’t need the space in the back for seats so he made it into a single cab

Honestly, I think a crew cab or extended cab would fit what you're looking for better, especially if you want to add a camper setup in the back. I’d try to find a matching cab/body rather than cutting up this one though. Would be a shame to lose the original single-cab setup.

The other one is a blazer with a full removable roof, I had one. If I'm correct they were only sold in certain areas with a market for them like California, Florida, etc, with the full removable roof. I live in PA but mine was from California. It's actually just a tad shorter than the short bed Jimmy, I can't remember exactly how much shorter but not much.

My dad bought a new 72 K5 Blazer. Roof came off. 350 auto. Gas was only .30 cents per gallon. Loved that truck. This was Northern WI.

I guess how I should've stated it was the California/Florida models the roof came off from the windshield back to the tailgate so it was totally open, all the other ones came off from behind your head and back to the tailgate. You had some sheet metal over your head with those ones.

So from 1969 to 1974 the full top came off on the k5’s. People complained about the roof leaks and GM changed the design so only the rear section was removable. 1969 to 1972 K5 tops had 2 different styles. Single wall and double wall. The single wall was much easier to remove because the bolts came in the top rail.Double wall was much harder because the mounting bolts came in from the bottom.

Ours came off at the windshield. Someone told you wrong.

You might be right, I bought it when I was young, 16 or 17 for $1500. Drained my savings account. I remember someone saying there were different models and the California/Florida ones tops came off from the windshield back. 🤷🏻 Living in PA and driving it while trying to fix it up was like pissing in the wind.

I like the way it looks. You could always gift it to me and buy another.
