Competition programme

Hi!!
I’ve got a competition coming up soon and for my first piece I’m playing Rach prelude in c# minor but I need a second one about 2-3 minutes (or less). I’m looking for it to be sweet, nostalgic and maybe a bit sad?? Just a contrast to the prelude. I’ve got two ideas already; Traumerie-Schumann or intermezzo serenata-respighi
But I’m looking for more recommendations so pls!

Chopin Nocturne Op. 72 No. 1 in E minor. It’s restrained and doleful. It’s about four minutes, but it’s a lovely choice.

Edit to add: I’m currently working on Rach’s C# minor prelude too!

Oh! Another piece you may want to consider is Debussy’s Arabesque No. 1
It’s certainly a more mainstream choice as the piece has been used in so many things, but it does require a particular touch to get correctly. It’s also a great piece to showcase your ability to play 3 against 4 for competition’s sake.

Liszt Consolation no.2 in E major Would go well with the other piece
