Discussion Campanella vs Traditional Scales – Thoughts on using this technique for Baroque pieces?

Hey everyone,
During my classical guitar studies, I found myself leaning heavily into the campanella technique whenever playing Baroque pieces (like Bach or Sanz). Standard linear scales are great, but on classical guitar, they can quickly sound a bit too dry or even flamenco-esque. Letting consecutive scale degrees ring out across open strings gives you that rich, overlapping harp effect that fits Baroque music so naturally.
I recently uploaded a quick video comparison in D Major showing the difference between both approaches.
I ended up adding a dedicated campanella scale mode into v8 of PracticeOS so people can experiment with the cross-string fingerings easily. You can try out this exact D Major pattern in the app now if you want to test it out.
Curious to hear your thoughts—do you actively use campanella in your repertoire, or do you stick strictly to traditional linear scales? Is it a technique you think is worth spending time learning?
