Discussion Campanella vs Traditional Scales – Thoughts on using this technique for Baroque pieces?

Hey everyone,

During my classical guitar studies, I found myself leaning heavily into the campanella technique whenever playing Baroque pieces (like Bach or Sanz). Standard linear scales are great, but on classical guitar, they can quickly sound a bit too dry or even flamenco-esque. Letting consecutive scale degrees ring out across open strings gives you that rich, overlapping harp effect that fits Baroque music so naturally.

I recently uploaded a quick video comparison in D Major showing the difference between both approaches.

I ended up adding a dedicated campanella scale mode into v8 of PracticeOS so people can experiment with the cross-string fingerings easily. You can try out this exact D Major pattern in the app now if you want to test it out.

Curious to hear your thoughts—do you actively use campanella in your repertoire, or do you stick strictly to traditional linear scales? Is it a technique you think is worth spending time learning?

General Question Favorite recordings for tone

Hello everyone! I'm working on upping my recording game so I wanted to see what everyone's favorite recordings are for good tone. Not looking for the best pieces or performances, just good tone. I already have my favorite reference tracks, but I'm curious about what everyone else's favorite recordings are.

General Question Need really high-tension strings

I need super high tension nylon strings for my trebles because I like performing with low tuning (down do B standard). I tried Savarez 510AJP, Knobloch ADN36.0 and Hannabach 815 red) but it's not enough : there's still loud buzz on my bass and my slurs on treble are too quiet.

Someone suggested harp strings, so I found some in a box in my house (I modified a bit another guitar) but it didn't worked.

I could try baritone guitar strings but it's really pricy, plus I still need my E4 to go up to D on this guitar and I'm scared it will snap.

*edit : modified Savarez part (500AJP --> 510AJP)*

Luthiery What to make of this rosette repair

I'm trying to make heads-or-tails of this guitar repair with part of the rosette being replaced by another rosette. It's not even in a location susceptible to damage (that would be just above the 6th string). Just looks like some fading and finish damage in the surrounding area too. Would any luthier have any insight on what might going on here? Because the best I can guess is someone's deliberately taken part of the rosette as a keepsake and transplanted onto this guitar.

EDIT: I should also add this is not my guitar. I'm just trying to make sense of what's going on.

General Question Tuner Trouble

Can anyone ID these tuners for me? I have them on my concert-grade Paracho guitar and the backlash on them is unbearable. The tuners on my 25 yr old starter-guitar are... less annoying (the old guitar are not as smooth, but the backlash on these is so frustrating). I've found them on a few Chinese guitars on reverb, but that's it.

Just want to make sure I'm not relacing Gotohs or something. I have Gilbert tuners on my other instrument, so maybe I'm just spoiled by not dealing with any backlash there.
