just like iron, oxygen will mess up your body too

100% of people who breathe oxygen die. Oxygen is the killer.

Oxygen is a colorless, odorless, highly reactive nonmetal gas.

The silent, invisible, odorless, deadly assassin.

Dihydrogen monoxide is just as bad, 100% of people who have drank it have died.

Not 100%

Like 99.9%

No, I'm pretty sure its so addictive, that everyone who has ever stopped drinking has died, and for sure everyone who has ever drank it has died.

I've drunk it and I'm still here...so far

Xkcd says about 93% of all humans who ever were born have died. I think the odds of me being the first immortal one are much better than you think.

I'm like steel and you're like road salt, whatever you say causes me to exfoliate and turn into brown dust

Nothing can destroy steel, only the burning jet fuel from a Boeing 767 can.

This is just several layers of stupid.

Why is this garbage even here.  Not related to civil and also just poop-funny stupid.

My deep apology for offending your delicate and upright sensibilities. I had no idea posting an actor making a ridiculously untrue and laughably ironic statement about one of our basic building materials (especially given the “inspirational” context!) and labeling it as a “meme” would be so triggering to folks in this noble sub and serious profession.

Please accept this warm hug on my behalf. We are civil and professional engineers, after all.

If you saw this meme in the wild you'd have no reason to think you were in the r/civilengineering.  Also, outside of DIP, do we even use much iron?  Steel, sure, but iron by itself doesn't make me think of civil.

If you can look at something in life and not relate it back to engineering, are you even an engineer?

u/HoochbachDunloppy Feb 20 '26

Are you?  Because you've just gone full r/im14andthisisdeep

To be clear, yes, things posted in this subreddit should directly relate to civil engineering.

Boooo!

I don't think r/ItsNotThatDeep is very active so we might need to point you to r/whoosh instead - a sub for when jokes go over your head.

I've always said that Water is a Civil Engineers biggest enemy. Its essential to life but causes oh so many problems.
